The only "tip" I have is to not be afraid/timid to ask questions! At my first ultrasound, I was nervous and too shy to ask questions. And then I went home and wished I had just asked and not been so shy about it. So at the next ultrasound, I just asked whatever question popped up in my head. Like "What's the circular thing right there?" or "Is that normal?" ( I asked that one alot).

Don't be nervous and don't' worry about being emotional, I was when I saw the little nugget for the first time. It doesn't look much different than a teddy graham cracker, not like a baby, but it didn't matter I was in love and seeing the heartbeat was amazing (at 9 weeks they were unable to find it with the doppler yet in my case, so it was very reassuring.)

Don't go pee first! When I went for my 7w ultrasound, I thought it would be transvaginal since the last two had been (I had some spotting so they brought me in a couple of times). So I peed long and hard before going in and then she said, "Well, we're going to try it abdominally today!" Which you need a full bladder for. Thankfully my super pregnant pee supply meant there was still enough in my bladder that they got a nice, full picture.

But most of all, don't be nervous, and if you're nervous, tell them! I find that helps me tremendously. I do it all the time when getting blood drawn, even if they don't give a crap that I'm nervous :)

Are you nervous about how it feels or finding out about the baby? If it's the former, just try to relax your pelvic muscles and say if it hurts. If it's the latter, I don't have much advice but just ask questions. My tech told us right away there was a heartbeat and it wasn't ectopic, so I could relax through the rest!

Not too much, just relax and enjoy! It'll probably be a transvaginal one, so be prepared for a wand to be stuck up in your business. They'll probably do a dating so you can see if your due date is right. It is so fun to see your baby for the first time - it'll look like a bean shape and you'll probably get to see the heartbeat (but won't be able to hear yet)...looks like a little flicker on the screen. It does make it a little bit more "real". Have fun!

I'm about 8 weeks, and I have my first ultrasound next week. My husband is going. This is our first and all of this is so new. I'm a little nervous.

Does anyone have any tips?
