I'm a software person and so we are kind of slow with social stuff and so I give a lot of slack to my co-workers, they just don't know better sometimes! I don't think my co-worker was trying to be mean or snarky, she doesn't have kids so she just assumed every kid's first word was either mommy or daddy. :) @banana : I'm pretty sure DS will say baba (daddy for us) before he says mommy b/c DS is more attached to DH than he is to me. :) Which I think is personally very cute! He is about 1 year and 3 weeks. When DH leaves with DS to go to daycare, I usually say bye bye and kiss both of them. Today right after I said bye bye DS said bub bye. DH and I stopped and looked at each other…. Did he just say his first words? So I kept saying bye bye, bye bye, bye bye. And DS just looked at me like I was crazy! Okay must have been a fluke. Then when DH was going down the stairs… DS said bub bye again! And I said bye bye!!! Then DS looked at me and smiled and said bub bye and me and DH cheered! Then baby wu started saying bub bye, bub bye, bub bye. So I think his first word is bye bye… right? ^_^ ----------------------------------------------------- Oh a side note I told one of my co-workers this and she said a little matter of factly that his first words should have been either mommy or daddy (or any other versions of that word). But I guess that didn't happen because we don't really use those words as often as we say bye bye. :) I'm still happy he said his first word though! ^_^ Even if it wasn't the common mommy or daddy.
