@yoursilverlining: Sorry to tag you on this ancient post, but I need a new eye cream, and it looks like from your post, you really like the Shisedo one, can you tell me why?

I am wondering if it's emollient and if I could instead use it during the day? I wear concealer on both my eye lids and under my eyes, so I like to moisturize beforehand and need something to help smooth the concealer.

I have sensitive combination skin too, and I’m kind of a product junkie, so I’ve tried a bunch of stuff. Lots were fine and I don’t have any complaints about them – but I also didn’t really see or feel results, so “meh” rating from me. Might work better for other people, as they are usually well-rated products.

I use the Dr. Hauschka system, which I love and have been using for years. My morning routine is:

Dr. H cleansing milk
Dr. H clarifying toner
Dr. H daytime eye cream
I don’t need a lot of moisturizer, and what I use depends on the season. SK-II essence and then either a few drops of Dr. H normalizing day oil (great for oily skin), or some light moisturizer.

Nighttime routine is:

Remove makeup with a baby wipe (cheap & on hand, FTW)
Wash with Cetaphil
Dr. H toner
Shiseido night eye cream (I really like this)
SK-II Facial Treatment essence (I’ve only been using this for a few weeks, so far I like it, but I don’t know yet if I love it)

Other nighttime/wrinkle/anti-aging products I’ve used and thought were fine, but didn’t love:

Ava Anderson
Elemis
Skinceuticals A.G.E Interrupter

Supplemental masks, etc. that I do love:

Dr. H Rejuvenating/Revitalizing mask
GlamGlow Supermud clearing treatment (if you have sensitive skin only leave this on for a couple of minutes at most – it hurts if left on more than that, but I do see results)
Honey – regular honey, I use a local raw honey

BTW, I have sensitive combination skin. But the winters here are ridiculously dry, so I'm looking for moisturizing and restorative/age-defying items to battle all the stuff I'm done to my skin. Maybe even anti-wrinkle stuff?

I pretty much had no routine whatsoever, but I've used the these items for years:
- Clinique extra mild facial soap
- Dickinson's witch hazel
- Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion
- Clean & Clear morning burst facial scrub (occasionally)

I'm experimenting with these, but I think they may be too harsh for my skin type:
- Lumene basic blue cleansing gel
- Lumene basic blue skin tonic
- Mythos 24h fluid moisturizing face cream

@looch: Whoa. That 10-step system is no joke! I think I'm going to cut corners and try 4 or 5 steps. I've been using Korean beauty products for years (from when I worked there), but I haven't been using them properly. I do the once in a blue moon "pampering", but I haven't had a real routine in years. Years!

I'm now diving in. I actually bought my first set Korean products online (picking it up today), but it's the same occasional pampering stuff. I've been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of sets and real skin care items. I really appreciate the links! I'm going to try to figure out what's what and in what order to put things on

I use the midnight recovery line from Kiehl's and also Ponds dry skin lotion. the Kiehl's stuff is pricey but I'm convinced that it works!

@SugarplumsMom:

Yep, that's the essence. I use it after I wash, before I begin the cream process. This is the snail cream I am using, I got the rec from a blogger, Mrs. Schoolbus maybe?

@looch: Talk to me about the snail cream. I've heard anything snail is good, but I can't seem to take the picture of real snails out of my head

Is this the Missha Essence? http://www.amazon.com/Missha-Revolution-Treatment-Essence-Facial/dp/B007HEP0R0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438773943&sr=8-1&keywords=Missha+Essence

I use a ton of things, I don't do all the steps every single night though. I have sensitive, normal skin. If I use too many hydrating products, I get those white bumps on my face so I have to watch what I am using.

In the morning, in my shower, I use a scrub, currently the Walmart knockoff of the Nuetrogena grapefruit scrub, but not every day. Then I use a Skinsueticals sunscreen, that has no moisturizer. I use a CeraVe day lotion.

At night, I wash my face with a gentle soap, I can't recall what brand I am using right now, it's from the drugstore, so nothing fancy. I am using the Missha Essence that everyone raves about and I have noticed a change in the texture of my skin.

Then, I do my creams. I have a ton of them that I alternate. Sometimes I use the Olay Regenerist Overnight mask, sometimes I use a Korean Snail Mucin cream. I am finishing up an eye cream that I bought while living abroad, I don't love it so I will look for something else.

I just noticed I have nose wrinkles. They're supposed to be called "bunny lines", which makes it sound less imposing, but I'm nonetheless freaking out a little. I know wrinkles are inevitable, but still.

I've neglected my skin for way too long and now I'm looking for a skin care routine. Do you have a favorite line? How many products/steps do you use? What type of skin do you have?

Thanks!
