It doesn't bounce, it sways slightly assuming you are pushing it constantly. And even then the motion isn't very deep (doesn't move that far forward/back) and just doesn't really calm a baby. The other bouncy seat I was looking at is the Babybjorn that uses the baby's motion to move.
