@kiddosc: I have the same watch as @Becky: and it's perfect for me. Simple but gets the job done. It tracks steps too, but I only really wear it for runs and use the GPS function. You can set it up to notify you at different intervals, I just have mine set to tick off each mile; it beeps and shows me my mile time for that last mile. At the end it gives me a summary of average pace and a breakdown of each mile. I think it only saves 10 runs at a time, so you'll definitely want to link it to an account if you want to save all your data.

@kiddosc: A very different aside, but get yourself some new running capris from Athleta. They have some sweet pockets on the side that make it easy for you to slip your phone in and out of - I love them for running long distances since I use the Nike+Running app for my runs.

I don't have one, but I want to get the new Fitbit Versa. Sleek and smart watch look, has some apps and can load music, under $200. It doesn't have GPS though. The Fitbit Ionic had GPS, but is over $200 and a bit bulkier.

I love my fitbit alta hr! I use it with Android, no problem. I love the alarm clock in the morning, since it vibrates and doesn't wake up my husband or baby. The sleep tracker is great, as is the heart rate monitor.

@TemperanceBrennan: Thanks! I use runkeeper now to map my runs, but would like something that's easier to start/stop and to check progress mid-run. I really like that runkeeper gives me an audible update every 5 minutes, but it's annoying to try to start the app and then get the phone back in my running belt. Especially in a race scenario where you can't necessarily take off running right after you press go.

I have a Fitbit Alta HR and since whenever I would need GPS, I make sure to always have my phone, I just use the Map My Run app.
I have a android and like the fitbit app. I use fitbit to track my steps/active minutes, heart rate (resting and active) - though I take the results with a grain of salt, wrist measurement is less accurate than a chest strap), sleep, and active hours. I like the vibration reminder/alarm to make me walk each hour because I have a desk job.
I like the slimmer profile of the alta and like that when I raise my wrist, the watch displays. I keep it on all the time.
I also have a polar gps watch with chest strap and I never use it because it is a hassle to get out and I don't love app.

@Becky: Thanks! I hadn't seen this one, I'll check out some reviews. It is really hard not to get watch envy and I'm trying to keep in mind that I don't really need a ton of bells and whistles.

My Garmin Forerunner 15 is perfect for me and sounds like maybe a good fit for you. I really only use it for distance and pace, but you can link it to an account to track your runs and progress. I purposely didn’t get a more advanced watch (although I sometimes get watch envy when I see everyone else’s touch screens) because I knew I would get sucked into always looking at my pace and stats and being too obsessive. We have a step challenge coming up at work and I’ll be using it for that too since you can use it to count your steps. At under $100 I think its a great option for a first GPS watch, but if you’re ok spending a little more the more recent versions are cooler looking (not necessarily any better at helping you train well).

I'm biting the bullet and signing up for my first half-marathon this fall, so I'm in the market for a fitness tracker/watch. Ideally, the features I'd like are:
- HR monitor
- GPS
- <$200
- Android compatible

I have an old fitbit flex that really only tracks steps/sleep and I'd like to step up my game. I'm not really concerned with it being able to play music since I'd generally still bring my phone along with me on runs for safety reasons.

Does anyone have one that they love that won't break the bank?
