You are paying your daycare fees with pre-tax dollars. This saves you the income tax you would normally pay so your dollars go further.

Yes, this means you will have to have to "pay double" for daycare (paying the $1500 monthly tuition and having the $416 out of your paycheck). However, you get it back eventually.

We submit a request for reimbursement on a monthly basis so we get our $1500/monthly tuition back as a single check. I would imagine different plans have different rules so you'll need to check with your plan administrator.

Does that make sense?

Forgive my mommy brain but I'm having a hard time figuring this out! We haven't used daycare until now, so I'm really not familiar with the FSA and my District isn't so helpful either!

My district allows $5,000/year to go into an FSA for daycare. Daycare for my kids is costing $1500/month. What's the best way to take advantage of the FSA? Have the district deduct the same amount per paycheck for my 12 months of pay, up to $5000? (So $416/month)? And then take the money from my FSA account only once a year? Or do I submit a claim for the $416 every month? And in the long run, this is only helping me cut down on my taxable income right? So in theory I'd have to be paying the $1500/month out of pocket plus the $416/month would be taken off the top of my paycheck? Sorry if this is all over the place---I'm so confused & no one at work can seem to explain it!!!
