I totally get the point about the mattress on the floor...to me a bed needs a frame!

But the point of the floor bed is so that the child doesn't need help to get in and out of it. My son refused to use the crib at around 18 months and we had no choice but to transition him to a low futon that was in his room. One night, he literally brought me his sleepsack and after books, he walked over to the futon and laid down on it. That was that and he was out of the crib...he also refused the conversion of the crib to the toddler bed, so I am glad we didn't invest a ton in our crib.

I am on my phone so it is a pain to link but I was inspired to try it by the blogs feedingthesoil and howwemontessori. We have had LO on a floor bed for 2 years now, so I am also happy to answer questions ...

I don't have time right now to dig up some options but try searching Pinterest, I know there are some boards on there dedicated to floor beds or Montessori bedrooms and you might find some good links to logic behind it.

Can anyone direct me to some online resources that talk about floor bed?
My toddler doesn't want to be put into her crib and I'm thinking a floor bed might be a good solution. But DH isn't convinced that sleeping on a floor mattress isn't just for broke college students.. ;)
