@Mrs. Lion: oh wow, DH's parents have a lot of work ahead of them!! I'm so glad they evacuated UNCW after all of this happened and I bet you won't have classes for a while! They do live in Southport. It's a hot mess right now.

@CoffeeMom: I'm so glad your family and property are okay. That sounds really scary. It's crazy how much more rain we got than was expected. I think I saw here we got 13 inches and they had forecasted us to get 5-7. 😫

@mediagirl: the pictures of i40 are insane! DHs parents are down there now with the power company trying to help get power restored. It's a long process. I have a couple friends who made it back there today, so hopefully that means the water is receding a bit. I'm enrolled at UNCW right now for grad school but I suspect I won't have even online classes for a while still. Hope everything is okay at your parents house. I love that area ❤ Are they in Southport?

I know there are a few inactive bees on the coast that are struggling right now. One friend just got her power back, 4 or 5 days after losing it. My parents have been at my house since Wednesday because I-40 is flooded and they have no route home. They live south of Wilmington by about 30 minutes. Entrances to their community are closed (roads damaged), local roads damaged. Other local roads still flooded. It's a serious disaster and so sad for the area.

We live near the N.C. coast, about an hour north of Wilmington. The kids and I evacuated, and my husband stayed with our farm and animals. We were incredibly fortunate. Our home and property had very little damage, and no flooding. People just a couple of miles from us were being rescued from rooftops. My husband lost power and water for a few days, but as of yesterday morning both were restored. We hope to be able to return in a couple of days. Our area has been hit very badly, and I think it’s going to take a significant period of time to get back to “normal”.

I don't know anyone in the area, but just wanted to say I'm so glad you have power still and hoping that your friends and family are doing okay given the circumstances

Really glad to hear you have power - it's still hard to be stuck inside for so long with the kids.

I'm a Florida girl and my area was hit pretty hard by Irma last year. Memories of the prep, the night of the storm, the power outages and downed trees, and the cleanup are all fresh. Our community definitely rallied together though, which was a silver lining to see so much help given from neighbor to neighbor so freely. I was watching the storm closely thinking of our friends and family up there. Thankfully so far everyone is safe in our circle - glad to hear you are too!

Hey friends!

I know I am not the only one in the NC/SC area...how are you guys doing? We are very fortunate here in the Triangle, but I have many friends and family members in the eastern part of the state and things are pretty rough :( We got a ton of rain last night, and even in the center of the state we have quite a bit of flooding. So far we have missed 3 days of school, and will probably be out for a 4th tomorrow since the rain is continuing and roads are washing out. :crying: Trying to work from home with 3 of the 4 kids...none of whom have left the house since last Wednesday. Thankful for power, because it has been screen time city up here for a lot of days.
