We got married on sanibel island! Doc fords was fun/good to eat. It may be a little to touristy but we like it. It's a casual sports bar type place that would be kid friendly.

@Mrs D: @mrsjyw: @hellobeeboston: @LBee: thank you for all the suggestions! I'm taking notes and will look up all these places! 20-30
Mins isn't that far to travel to go sight seeing/ out for a good meal, or Icecream! Beach combing for shells sounds like so much fun. It just snowed 6 inches this afternoon, can not wait for above freezing temps!

We did Sanibel/Captiva last winter and it was so great, very chill, it's only about 25/30 min from Ft Myers... I would recommend for sure! The place we stayed had a great pool and I know that you can pay for a day rate if you want to swim in the pool for the day! if you want the name let me know...The beach is also across the street so it's best of both!

My recommendations concern Sanibel / Ft Myers.

Pinnochios is delicious for icecream. We love it!

Gramma Dots has a wonderful grouper sandwich - it's a place that a lot of "locals" go. You can also see all the fancy boats.

The Sanibel Lighthouse is a neat place to check out. The streets around there are also just cool to look at - the flamingo mailboxes crack me up.

Captiva Cruises is WONDERFUL! We went to Sanibel in October and my son was a little older than your son, but he loved the dolphin cruise. It's at 3 PM, I think. They also have a sunset cruise that has a good Jimmy Buffet cover musician who plays while you have cocktails and watch sun set over the Gulf

She Sells Sea Shells is a cool shop to see various sea shells. There is also a sea shell museum. If you are feeling really adventurous, there is a teddy bear museum in Naples that's pretty cool.

The best beach for shelling is at Blind Pass. On the way out there you'll pass Ding Darling Preserve which is a great place to visit to see wildlife. They do canoe tours, or just nature trails.

If you go out to Captiva, I recommend the Mucky Duck.

We also really like the Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar - good view, good food, etc.

CRaVE is also delicious - especially for brunch. It's in this random strip mall.

Ft Myers is about 30 mins from Naples - there are some great restaurants in downtown naples...

There is a super cute Zoo in naples too - it would be nice for an activity that is stroller friendly. DH and I were pleasantly surprised.

There is a great brunch at La Playa resort - just North of Naples.

Sorry - lots of my recommendations are in Naples (where our place is) but its really quite close.

There is an awesome outlet mall off I-75 between Ft Myers and Naples...

Hey bees, we are headed down (from Canada) to Fort Myers in the middle of February. We will
Be there for 10 days and staying with my parents who are snow birds and in an rv. Looking for things to do in the Fort Myers area (so no driving to parks). We have a 7 month old, so places that are baby friendly, but for adults, don't need kids attractions really, as DS isn't old enough.

Any restaurants, pubs, bars, attractions, shopping we should check out?
