If you're up for avoiding Disney all together... Try Delray beach! I used to live there and it has something for everyone on your list. I love it there. Really great food, beaches, family friendly but close to Miami/ft lauderdale

We've been to Cocoa Beach several times. It's not a party town and condo rentals are very reasonable. Easy drive to Orlando! Good luck!

By the way, Universal has a great night life scene. If you stay close that would be a great option. Downtown Disney is great too

My family have rented house at Reunion Resort which is REALLY nice. Its a close drive to Orlando and to the beaches.

@highwire: I think Crescent Beach is very family friendly! We had my ILs, BIL and his family (2 young girls) and us (pre baby). Everyone really enjoyed it. There was a supermarket nearby for grocery shopping and some small shops/restaurants. 20 minutes away was the town of st augustine for bigger restaurants and shops.

@regberadaisy: I'd prefer it to be not party at all...my BIL and his GF can drive somewhere wild if they want to :)

ETA: Thanks! I will check out the places you suggested :)

Rent a house!

What about Cocoa Beach? I think it's near Kenndey space center. Driving distance to DW. But I don't know if it's too "party".

My ILs rented a beach house at Crescent Beach 2 years back and it's just WONDERFUL. White sandy beaches, near a aquarium and driving distance to DW. If we go back to FL we want to go there again. It's about 20 minutes to St Augustine which is a cute old town. It's def family friendly.

We are planning a family vacation to Florida for spring break next year.

It will be 7 people total (two people in their 50s, two people in their late 20s, two people in their early 20s, and my LO who will be 15 months) Everyone is high energy.

We decided on Florida because we want something affordable and tropical without going international.

DH and I would love to do Universal Studios if possible, my BIL and his GF are young and are interested in a party atmosphere, and my in-laws are looking for a beach-ey relaxing type of vacation with some fun activities thrown in, but are open to doing anything whatsoever.

Should we stay at a resort? Rent a house? Stay near Disney? Stay far away and drive to Disney? Avoid Disney entirely?

We definitely want lots of beach time (but not sure if we should stay on East coast or West coast of FL)

We also want to stay somewhere that isn't a mecca of college students partying on spring break.

Help!
