@PinkElephant: yeah - that one's cute, not annoying and gives some different examples (sprinkling pedals vs carrying a basket of flowers, etc). Probably good so they don't get too attached to one specific idea if the bride hasn't decided yet. M requested it for a bedtime story tonight, in fact

@MrsA: my dd will be a flower girl next spring and that's pretty much my explanation so far. I figure I'll get more specific when it gets closer.

@MrsA: Both the Katy Duck and Pinkalicious books cover the topic of confusion about what a flower girl does (no, she doesn't dress like a flower....). It's just that their story lines will get pretty annoying to the grown up reading them pretty quickly.

This is great! My dd will be a flower girl this winter and I've totally fallen flat on explaining..."you'll wear a pretty dress and toss flower petals!" Yeah, brilliant explanation.

@Miss Ariel: Ooh good call - they like Angelina. That one didn't come up in my search because the keyword in the title is wedding rather than flower girl...but I bet my library has it! Thanks!

@MrsF: Perfect! I was hoping to find something more "instructional" like this - I bet my girls will love it.

My 3.5 year old will be a flower girl in my sister's wedding in the fall. My sister gave her this book when she asked her to be the flower girl. M *loves* it.

Isn't there any Angelina ballerina flower girl book? Something like Angelina and the royal wedding?

For anyone else who is looking, we've tried the following:

1) Lily's Big Day (super cute, although Lily isn't actually the flower girl in the story)

2) Pinkalicious: Flower Girl (pretty silly, but gets the point of explaining what a flower girl is across)

3) The Very Fairy Princess: Here Comes the Flower Girl (I stopped reading this one because she doesn't like her dress and ends up getting input - I don't want to give my girls ideas)

4) Katy Duck, Flower Girl (very basic and not very cute storyline)

5) Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century (not bad but not amazing)

I also checked out the Junie B. Jones and Heidi Heckleback flower girl books, but this reading level is a bit to much for my girls - we'd have to read them over the course of maybe a week, and I doubt even the four year old is mature enough to remember what is happening in the book from day to day.

In a few weeks, my DDs (2 and 4) are going to be flower girls in my BIL & SIL to be's wedding. This is the first time both of them will have been in (or attended) a wedding.

Can anyone recommend books about being a flower girl - either fiction or non-fiction? It's okay if they skew a little older; my daughters both listen to longer/more mature books regularly. We've exhausted the options at my library (that is, anything I could find in the system by searching "Flower Girl"), and I'm willing to order a few on Amazon; however, I'd love firsthand reviews before I do that. Thanks! :)
