I called the OB earlier this week because I caught the cold and needed suggestions for a decongestion and she said this year's flu shot missed some strands of known flu viruses and that's why so many more people are contracting the flu this year. But because I'm pregnant, I knew it was recommended. I just heard how bad this flu season is on the news last night and I'm so glad we both decided to get the shot! For the pats 2-3 weeks, I have had no fewer than 4 flu-positive or rule-out-flu patients on my floor at the hospital every day (meaning one might be discharged but we immediately get a new one). And one of the other social workers says it's the same on her floor.
