My DD always had the injection until last year, when she got the mist at age 4. She did fine with it and we stayed flu free.

I prefer injection because kids can get some mild symptoms from Flu Mist. I also found flu mist more painful than an injection.

Having said that, both are effective.

When we had our two year well visit recently the peditrician recommended the flu mist, but suggested we come at a later date as LO had some nasal congestion at the time. I was fairly dismissive and thought we'd just get the injection when returning from vacation as she handles injections okay.

Today I was reading about how the flu vaccine is covering 4 strains this year in the mist and some (low quantities available) injections. I decided the mist was maybe our best option and original shipments are already gone at our peditrician.

I found another related peditrician that has the mist available and we will be going later today. I'm slightly apprehensive because it's different than what we've done before and it's a weakened live virus.

So parents, what do you do for your toddler? Mist or injection? Has your toddler been to get the flu vaccine already this year? Tell me your experiences!
