@Mrs Z OT: Thanks for sharing! I'm so glad to hear that you had such a positive outcome. My next two were 467 (45 hours) and 830 (55 hours). We had an ultrasound last week and confirmed gestational sac and yolk sac measuring 4.6mm at 5 weeks 4 days. RE said measuring fine but dated two days behind which she wasn't concerned about. We have another one scheduled this Tuesday, and we are really hoping to see a fetal pole and a heartbeat. DH and I are still trying to keep hopes in check, but we are really hoping this little bean will stick!

@Hoots: I have just been through this exact beta hell, with worse betas than yours. My betas were:
72 10dp5dt
180 14dp5dt (72.62 hrs doubling time; 58% increase calc
for 2 days)
269 16dp5dt (82.81 hrs doubling time; 49.4% increase)
659 18dp5dt (37.13 hrs doubling time; 145% increase)

Needless to say I was freaking out and the RE was very down on viability, mentioning ectopic/methotrexate, etc. At early ultrasound I saw gest sac & yolk sac in utero, but measured up to 6 days behind (which is outside of the preferred +/-3-5 day confidence interval, especially for IVF when they know exactly when you conceived). There were a lot of tears.

After all that, I'm now 11 weeks 4 days. I've been transferred to regular OB who said, "Everything looks great, you have no need to worry. If this was your first visit, I'd think everything was right on track, you just have a small baby." She is also now tolerating my insane requests for constant reassurance with ultrasound and extra visits to calm my overwrought nerves.

While there are no guarantees (as I'm sure you well know!), don't allow borderline betas to get you down. Fluctuation is more normal than doctors like to accept. Even a 95% confidence interval means that 5% of results will be outside of 2 (!!!) statistical variations. Hold tight. This will be the longest week(s) of your life, but you still have a good shot.

@Honeygold89: If you don't mind sharing what were your numbers? Looking back, were there any other signs you had? I've definitely considered it could be ectopic, but so far I've had no signs other than light cramping a few times a day, which seems to be common in normal pregnancies as well.

ETA: My progesterone level was 54 when they tested it last week. A lot of the diagnostic criteria seem to indicate that I'm lower risk with that number. Still could definitely be the case, but I'm hoping I'm in the majority of cases here!

I have my fx so hard for you right now. I had a similar experience but it didn't go to well. The baby was actually growing but it was stuck in my right tube, but with that being said I have known a few people who numbers seemed to move slow but they still went on to have a healthy pregnancy and LO. My cousin just had that happen last June and she now has a beautiful and very healthy 3 week old

@Mrs.Pinecone316: @Crystal: @travellingbee: Spoke with the nurse and she said she thought the doubling time was okay right now, but back to the lab one more time. I appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and finger crossing. I'll take as many as I can get right now! I'm still pretty worried, but there's nothing I can do but wait, hope, and pray.

I see what your husband was saying. A lot of clinics don't even draw a 3rd beta so maybe this is more common than we realize? Hope talking to them tomorrow gives you some reassurance.

So, I'm a terribly inpatient patient. I looked at my RE's online portal to see if by chance my third beta number had posted. I really didn't think it'd be there, but it was. They are closed this weekend, so I won't get a call until Monday. Anyway, my beta doubling time significantly slowed:

12 dpo: 34
14 dpo: 99 (doubling time of 33 hours based on draw times)
16 dpo: 155 (doubling time of 74 hours based on draw times)

It doesn't look like I should be too optimistic, but DH is. He looks at it like if I didn't get the second beta done, then doubling time would be 45 hours. I really don't think it works that way.

Anyway, I can't find anything on the rate slowing this drastically this early, so I'd thought I'd ask. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what was the outcome?
