Basically what @2PeasinaPod: said! My OB cleared me until 34 weeks but, from what I understand, it's the airlines that have the final say. They don't want to chance anyone birthing in-flight.

Airlines will be your issue. Your doctor could clear you up to 36 weeks, but the airlines won't allow you to travel past a certain point.

You'll need a dr's note after 36 weeks and she'll probably want to make sure you have a backup plan if you go into labor (and check your insurance), but i imagine you have options!!! I think the airline can still refuse you boarding, though

Southwest will "let" you fly up to 38 weeks:https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/baby-on-board-pol.html

"Southwest Airlines recommends against air travel beginning at the 38th week of pregnancy.

Not exactly helpful but I flew up to 35 weeks, absolutely no problems. First pregnancy, went to 40w exactly. OB didn't clear me to fly after 36 weeks but with your circumstances if you aren't flying far maybe they can make an exception. In terms of flying postpartum I think some airlines recommend a week for newborns. But there's no strict limit, you can get a dr note.

I'm wondering how late in their pregnancy people have flown? My dad is having some rather serious medical issues, and I may need to take a 3 hour flight on a moment's notice. I'm totally comfortable doing this until 36 weeks. Has anyone flown once they are past 36 weeks? Alternately, how soon after having the baby have you flown? I'm terrified that I'm not going to be able to be there when my parents and siblings needs me the most.
Thanks for your advice. (obviously I know my midwife will have opinions, but personal stories will also be helpful in calming my nerves).
