It doesn't have a crotch strap, so it really isn't going to contain a wiggly kid. We will be flying with the then 2.5 year old in April and it's a loooong flight. I can thankfully borrow a cares harness so I think my plan is to bring it and only bother with it if we hit turbulence or if there's inclement weather for take off and landing. I've heard it's kind of a pain but I am sure I will feel better having it if it gets a bit crazy. W will be a lap infant but B will have his own seat. We'll be at a resort the whole time so don't need a car seat - WWYD? Get the CARES harness? Just buckle him into the seat? </p>
