Oh yeah. @shopaholic: I took like 10 or 15 of them on my last flight. I put them in various bags because I knew I would want one handy and never knew which bag I would have available. TSA was great on all 6 flights I've taken recently with our lo.

I also took things that weren't pre-packaged like yogurt in a bowl with a lid and applesauce in the same type of thing. No one batted an eyelash. I even took water through in a sippy cup and was told as long as it was for M, it could go through.

I have been flying with my son for three years, and we have never had an issue with sealed food in reasonable amounts.

Last domestic flight I had 4 tetra packs of whole milk, two to go cups of peanut butter and 4 applesauce pouches. No one batted an eye.

@sunny: I have no idea. I used the medela wipes so I wonder if the ingredients in that set off the scanner thing? I've carried my pump on many times and never had an issue. Maybe there was still liquid on it? It was weird!

@sunny: from what I've seen milk seems to be allowed in unlimited quantities, for other things it just depends on who I've gotten and if that agent is a stickler for whatever "rules" are in their head. Some have been picky about applesauce and yogurt in plastic containers, but much, much less so in the sealed pouches.

Worst case for anything, I've just had to open the container so they can wave the little paper strip in front of it. My best success though is to have everything prepared and ready in bags to be scanned, instead of rooting through my million bags to find everything. They always seem relieved and much more willing to work with me.

@MamaJ: @sunny: Thanks! Not if I'll really want to bring our own or just buy store-bought ones, but good to know!

@MamaJ: why did they test your pump parts? So odd. It should just be any old plastic item shouldn't it?

@lemondrop: ya I have had an agent mention the size once. She looked at the package and said "yep they are 3 oz so they are ok" but I think that agent was uninformed and there is no size limit. For instance, an 8 oz bottle or milk should also be allowed.

@shopaholic: I brought 3. They were store bought because BBB had a sale so I stocked up before we went. They were the 4 oz+ size. I don't see why bringing your own would be an issue. They may just test it separately. On our way home I carried my pump on (but no milk) and they took all my pump parts out and tested them. That was awkward. But they didn't do anything to the pouches and I didn't even mention them before going through security either!

Yes, I've only had one TSA agent mention size to me, and I've flown about 8 times with them- I brought some 3.5 oz pouches with me last time, and they said they "should" be no more than 3 oz, but it just depends who you get- she let me go through without any problems. They've never mentioned numbers of pouches though, they always were thrilled that I had everything ready to be scanned in the clear gallon bags.

Wondering about this too.

@MamaJ: How many did you bring? Did they have to be sealed? Or can I bring my own pouches (i.e. Little Green Pouches).

Yup I just brought them on a trip this week. I brought 5 in a ziplock baggie and let the screener know ahead of time that I had baby food with me. They gave it a bit of a look and asked me where I was travelling to. I think they were thinking it was a lot of food if it was just a short trip but we were going to be travelling all day and they let me take it all.

I just went on a trip and brought them with me. No issues at all! I did seperate them in a zip lock bag though with my other liquids.

I saw that the TSA regulations specifically states that one is allowed to bring breastmilk, formula, or baby food through security, but there seemed to be a little disclaimer in the rules about only bringing as much liquids as is needed for the flight.

Does anyone have experience with bringing puree pouches through security? They really calm my little guy down, so I am inclined to have several on hand, both for the flight and for waiting in the airport.

Related: The me that is now a parent wishes I could go back and tell the 5-years-ago-me not to scoff at the idea of food pouches. They are life-saving.
