We flew a few months after potty training so not exactly relevant but DH was worried about doing it in undies. I felt confident because LO had very few accidents after we made the switch and because LO really likes public bathrooms, weird as that is. So I was not worried about taking her in the airport before we boarded, once or twice during the flight, and then again when we landed. We did a 4 hour flight each way and she did beautifully!

I'm interested in any advice too, as I hope our 2.5 year old will be trained by Christmas when we travel again.
She did OK this summer, but changing her bum in the tiny airplane bathroom was difficult! I'll be glad to be into panties and pull-ups entirely!

I was worried about sending mixed messages by using a pull-up or diaper right after switching to undies during the day, but I explained to my 2.5 year old that sometimes you can't get out of your seat on an airplane (turbulence) so she'd wear a diaper just in case. But as it happened the plane toilet worked out just fine! Good luck!

I would totally do pull ups, you definitely don't want a wet seat if there is an accident! As for poop, make it an adventure going to the airplane toilet. And if it's a true emergency, I would just ask people if you could cut the line, I think a lot of people would be sympathetic. Good luck!

I potty trained my daughter on a three week trip to Grandma's this summer. It had been about a week by the time we flew home. Granted we had much shorter flights, but she went potty in the airport, wore pull ups, and went on the plane once. We had no problems at all other than fitting into the airplane bathroom. But it was easier than changing her diaper in there!!

Next week we will be flying cross country with a 2.5 yo and 6 month old. The 2.5 yo is newly potty trained.

Should I put him in pull ups for the flight? How do I handle poops - I do not think he will like the airplane toilet. And if he tells me he has to poop, what do I do if there is a long line for the bathroom?

I bought plastic potty liner covers, and the Potette travel potty, but I have not figured out how I will use them.

Any tips will be appreciated!
