@MrsADS: I carried on our white noise machine, video monitor and cameras, full Thermoses of milk, and a breast pump (and bags of frozen milk) before. The only thing that was of concern to TSA was the milk because it was more than 3 oz. of liquid. They just waved a little wand around it and that was it. No issues with the electronics at all.

@Erinbaderin yeah, just concerned they might get broken when luggage is getting tossed around, but that's a good idea. Also we are flying Allegiant Air (aka - cheapo nickel and dime you for everything air), so we're only checking one bag for me, DH, and baby (because it was $44) AND the weight limit is only 40 lbs. So I'm trying to think about how to distribute larger/heavier stuff to maximize the checked bag space. I may just have to suck it up and pay for another bag through, I am not sure if I can do 8 days for the 3 of us (with cold weather clothes - jeans, sweaters etc) in 1 bag under 40 lbs!

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to check the sound machine and video monitor? In my experience you have so much to juggle flying with a baby, you should check whatever you can. If you're worried they'll get broken just roll them in clothes.

@littlebit7 thankfully my husband is coming with me!! And it's not a small prop plane. But I am bringing a hand pump just in case.

Yep all is ok. I flew with the dohm as well. No issues. Like peachy keen said if you think you are flying on a smaller prop plane, I keep a manual pump with me if I have to gate check. Just in case I get stuck on the Tarmac and need to pump.
Are you flying by yourself? If so, just walk yourself through security mentally prior. I had to practice getting LO into and out of our beco and taking the beco off while holding her without having somewhere to put her down. Folding the stroller one handed. Etc etc. it was fine. If you gate check the car seat you can ask at the gate if there are open seats. They might let you take the car seat on the plane.

This should all be okay. Up until June, I always traveled with my pump in my rolling carry-on plus other baby gear. As long as you aren't on a small, regional jet you should be fine! (they would likely make you gate check your bag on a small plane)

Yup totally ok. Just tell them you have medical liquids going through and separate them from the bag.

I took our video monitor and my pump in our carry on last month with no issue. They stayed in the bag and just went through the X ray machine like normal. Meds and/or breastmilk are fine in a cooler with ice packs. You have to pull out the cooler and either send it through X-ray or have it hand checked. But it really wasn't bad. Also, you can gate check a stroller and car seat for free!

My LO's first flight is next Saturday. We're going to my mom's. I want to bring his Marpac Dohm sound machine and video monitor bur definitely don't want to check them. Will it be a problem bringing them through security? Also bringing my breast pump.

We're also going to take his medication that needs to be refrigerated. So I'm guessing a small cooler bag with an ice pack is ok?

It's just one 90 minute flight but l am already feeling stressed about corralling all the baby stuff!
