And some 0-3! Our nurses also said to wait to clip nails because they're so soft in the beginning it's very easy to cut the membrane/skin. The first 2 weeks we only had 1 sleeper with mitten cuffs so we used separate mittens and they never stayed on. I use to put mittens on her but now I just make sure I keep her nails really short. I cut my kids nails from day one, and the pedi at the hospital told me I could cut or use mittens. I honestly wanted to sew my own mittens when the NB ones no longer fit, but I knew that wearing them wouldn't help with her mobility and hand function. I let her wear them for as long as they fit only because she would really dig into her face and sometimes her eyes! I think I took them off a few weeks before she turned 3 months old. My son was a scratcher and I'm ashamed to say that I put sock on his hand till he was just shy of 2 years old. It wasn't just his face but he would start taking off his jammies to scratch. But he kept the socks on and they didn't fall off. I just tried to keep up with trimming his nails. I would always do it after he fell asleep from nursing. She'll grow out of it and won't scratch her face as much. Plus the little scratches heal quick and you can dab some breast milk on it to help.
