@eg88: That would be awesome! I've heard of that happening to several women as well.
I conceived my first baby with no problems so it seems like having a kid made things go in a negative direction for me, haha. But it is what it is!

@mrskansas: Oh...I see! wow, that is really interesting. I feel you on not understanding anything. I feel like when I finally make progress or think I have something figured out, everything changes. My RE said he would not even be surprised if once I fianlly have a baby, that my PCOS goes away and I dont have trouble again. Apparently that has happened to several people. Craziness!

@eg88: Yeah I definitely ovulated last cycle.

The funny thing is that I've never had a problem ovulating or using OPKs with natural cycles. Even when I was on Clomid I had a natural LH surge when my follicle was 20mm. So it's just strange that only on Femara I have problems ovulating without a trigger.
I have given up trying to understand my body, haha

@mrskansas: I tend to not have luck with OPKs. The tests never appear conclusive. My RE told me to stop using them because they add additional stress to me personally and that they do not work for everyone. His nurse echoed that today when I spoke to her. I have spent a forutne on every kind of predictor kit, and I have not had great luck with any. In fact, your brain can still produce LH even when you do not ovulate. That happened to me several months back when I was using one of the digital tests. So confusing!
On the cycle where you got your period, I would think you did in fact ovulate if your period came - so that is a good sign! Hopefully a BFP is not too far away!

@eg88: Ugh it's so confusing! I was in a prior cycle when I posted that and it ended with my period showing up. So I am convinced that my follicle just go too big to be healthy.

I'm now on my 2nd round of Femara. I went in on a Monday and had two mature follicles measuring 18mm and 20mm. My RE expected me to ovulate anytime. Still no positive OPK by Wednesday so they had me trigger. I have no idea what my follicles did between Monday and Wednesday but I'm really curious as to why I'm not having a natural LH surge.

Let me know what you find out from your RE; I'll be really interested to hear what they say!

@mrskansas: I hope I can shed some light, but I am also a little confused too!
I have done 3 rounds of femara (5mg). On my first two cycles, I ovulated around CD17 (my cycle is typically 31 days). My progesterone levels on CD23 were 11.4 and 10.6, respectively. On my third round, I recevied ultrasounds each day from CD13-CD17. Each ultrasound showed a dominant follicle growing in my left ovary. On CD16, the follicle was 2.6cm with "echoes" in the follicle and traces of free fluid. On CD17, I had not yet ovulated but there was more free fluid, more "echoes", and the follicle had shrunk slightly to 2.4cm. The tech fully expected me to ovulate that night. By that night, I also had some cramping. On CD23, my progesterone was 0.43 meaning I had not ovulated. They were suprised. A few days later, I had more cramping and CM with an egg white consistency. My RE has requested I come back on CD30 for another progesterone test - so I am awaiting that test.
I now wish I had done other ultrasounds in the first two rounds. I will say that the tech did not seem to think there was anything wrong wtih a 2.6cm follicle size and fully expected ovulation. I have an appt with the RE in 2 weeks, and I hope to ask more about viable follicle size and will update you.
Good luck and hang in there!

Yesterday afternoon I triggered after my scan showed a 27mm follicle on CD 16. Lining was just over 10mm.

Of course everything I've read says a 27 can be too big to contain a viable egg. Anyone have any experience or expertise they'd like to share to confirm my worry or ease my mind?
