I ended up taking big doses of Gonal-F for my IVF cycle (375 iu) and didn't notice any real side effects.

I think I started with 75 and then they increased me to 125? I did need to get one more during the middle of it. We used a specialty pharmacy that can only be ordered over the phone and it came like the next day so it wasn't a big problem.

@NorthStar: I believe it’s 4 doses of 75. I’m not well versed in overfill, I’ll have to look into that, thank you!

@Ajsmommy: hi! I haven’t been on here in awhile, trying to dip my toe back in.

@erinbaderin: wow, lady, you’re tough!

@muffinsmuffins: good to know the 75 wasn’t too big of an issue.

@misolee: did you have to order extra to be prepared? Or use the overfill?

@SweetiePie: I’m not doing IVF, and the stress is already considerable.

@KT326: was it just I feel uncomfortable bloating, or I need bigger pants bloating?

@agold: thank you!!!

If I can recall correctly, I did 100iu of follistim for the two IUIs I tried, and then 225 follistim for IVF and I never remember feeling anything different emotionally. I agree re: the advice to as your doctor/nurse about vial overfill so you can hopefully buy less. Good luck!!!

My RE said that with injectibles there shouldn't be any side effects (other than some bloating) because it is a naturally occurring hormone in your body. I never experienced any side effects like I did with oral meds.

I did gonal f too for one cycle. It didn’t really change for me. The good thing for gonal f was that you can change the dose as needed by doctor. My follicles took a little longer to grow so they upped th dosage in the middle. We did trigger shot and an iui and it was successful!

Fingers crossed for good things

I did IVF and had gonal-f in all 4 cycles I did. I don’t think it made me very emotional (not anymore than usual, with the stresses of IVF). I was on very high doses as well, always 300iu or higher.

DW did 3 medicated IUIs with Gonal F and Ovidrel trigger. At the lower dosages she was totally fine (from my perspective and hers!) IUIs didn't work for us but we did Gonal and Ovidrel at high doses for IVF and that's where she didn't feel so awesome. Also the fact of doing IVF takes a toll on the emotions as it is.

In the low dose I believe it was around 75 on the pen, double that for IVF in our case. The progesterone has always been by far the worst. Boob pain/tingling/swelling, hot flashes, fatigue, delayed period, etc. Basically fooling you into thinking you're pregnant when you maybe aren't.

I was actually almost completely fine...similarly to @erinbaderin: my body just seems to not be super responsive to my hormones being adjusted (in the socioemotional sense anyway) so I had very little issues through all my IUI and IVF rounds.

I did gonal-f for...a long time. Off and on for five years, through 8 IUIs (plus four more that I started that got cancelled) and 2 IVFs. I didn't find that they made me emotional, but I also find in general my body reacts well to having my hormones messed with - none of the fertility drugs really affected me, nor did pregnancy hormones.

I did that protocol for one or two cycles (we eventually moved to IVF). Honestly, the meds during my TI cycle were not that bad, especially since I can compare to how I felt during IVF. You might get a bit uncomfortable/bloated as you get closer to triggering, but I don't believe they made me emotional.

How much meds are they having you buy? Be sure that you know about the overfill so maybe you can buy less. Essentially, there is more med in each pen than it says. So, I was able to get away with buying less than they prescribed. I would need to look up my old posts if you want more specifics. Good luck!! :goodluck:

Hi lady!! I'm pretty sure I did the exact same protocol while I was treating with our RE. We did if for 5 months. I don't remember being super emotional due to the injections/meds but I do know that it was a very "trying" time. However, I think it was more to do with just dealing w IF in the first place.

As for the injections, all I remember is that they made me feel bloated. It would get worse as the cycle went on.

Sending you all the good vibes and wishing you the best of luck!!

My NaPro is moving me to Gonal-F/follitism injectables with an HCG trigger, TI and progesterone support for our next cycle. She warned me follitism can make you super emotional. Anyone do a similar protocol and be successful? What should I expect with Gonal-F? Should I warn my coworkers??? Lol
