I also give full fat organic greek yogurt (plain mixed with fruit), hummus, pieces of bread with cream cheese or butter (i.e., bagel), avocado (although he's not a fan), cheerios, mum-mum crackers, and bananas. Just recently I gave him string cheese to suck/gnaw on.

I'm definitely more liberal with food with my second son. We have no known allergies in either family and he's much more interested in food b/c he sees his brother eating, so if he wants to try a little bit, I usually let him have a taste.

sounds like you're doing everything right to me! food before one is "just for fun" anyway so try not to stress about it too much. Some babies are just more interested in feeding themselves than others are ;) He'll get there!

My son is the same age, so I'm partially commenting to follow but here's a few things he eats! Full fat Greek yogurt, hummus, lightly buttered toast, avocado, feta cheese, black beans, whole wheat pasta. He also loves puffs but I kinda just use those to keep him occupied while I'm fixing my own lunch.

So I started my son on solids at about 5 months, went straight to veggie purees and have slowly added in new tastes every couple of days - but I've fallen into a rut now of feeding him basically the same thing every day - pears either alone or with oat cereal for breakfast, some sort of pouch for lunch, and homemade baby food (some variation on a green, a starchy veg, meat and a rice/quinoa mix pureed) for dinner. I think he is still getting a pretty nice variety of foods and textures (the homemade baby food is like risotto texture but the pouches are still basically puree), but he must be gettin bored.

Can you tell me what your 8 month old was eating, so I can start incorporating some new stuff? He is NOT interested in finger foods. I try every day and he just plays with them/throws them on the floor. The most he will do is lick something, he's never succeeded in getting a finger food into his mouth and eating it, though literally every other thing in the world goes in his mouth immediately upon being picked up.

Any advice? Thanks!
