@katmmad: I use the meatloaf recipe from weelicious but every time I make it it varies depending on what meat and veggies I have on hand. LO is a major carnivore and this recipe is full of veggies so I like that! I have done it with turkey, pork, and beef so far. http://weelicious.com/2008/06/09/cheesy-turkey-meatloaf-bites/. Thanks for the zucchini bread recipe I will have to try that!

6:30 - nurse
7:00 - wake
11:00 - nurse
11:30 - lunch at daycare. Typically chicken nuggets or fish sticks or dinner leftovers. Frozen veggies of some sort. Special milk
2:00 - snack typically freeze dried fruit, leftover lunch, or cheerios in his snack cup and his special milk.
5:00 - nurse
6:00 - dinner - whatever we are having. Last night was toast, sausage and eggs. The other day it was chicken soup. Last week it was chicken and black bean enchiladas.

@katmmad: Oh, the banana bread isn't homemade. In Canada we have a brand called "President's Choice" and they make a toddler banana bread snack. I wish I was with-it enough to make my own :(

So interesting! @rubies and @t-mom, care to share your recipes for banana bread and mini meatloaves?

The zucchini muffin recipe I mentioned is one I actually got from @MrsBee's pinterest stream --

Ingredients

    1 cup zucchini, grated
1/3 cup onion, grated
1 egg
1/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 cup bread crumbs
salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Spray a mini-muffin tin with non-stick spray, set aside.
Grate the zucchini and onion. Place both in a dish towel to squeeze out the excess water. Do NOT skip this part, or the middle of the zucchini cakes will be really soggy.
In a bowl combine the egg, cheese, bread crumbs, zucchini, onion, salt and pepper.
Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, fill the muffin cups to the top.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the top is browned and set.

LO is 13 months, too, and here is how/what she eats:

Wake up: 5:30am and nurse
Snack: Yogurt or Banana bread
Breakfast: Oatmeal, handful of Cheerios to pick at, and some cut up fruit
Lunch: Risotto, fruit, steamed veggies
Snack: Whatever option she didn't have at her morning snack plus some fruit and crackers
Dinner: Same-ish as lunch

She drinks water throughout the day but not much milk.

my 12.5 month old eats:
6:30 am - nurse (not sure how much he is really getting at this point)
7:30 am - any of the following: mini waffle (from frozen), baby oatmeal cereal with fruit puree and whole milk (trying to use up all the purees I made and leftover baby cereals!). Offer water as well.
9:00 - snack at day care, usually fruits and cracker like mum mum
9:30 - 5 oz whole milk in bottle
12:00 pm - lunch such as mini meatloaves (made in mini-muffin tins in advance and frozen), fruits, pasta, sausages, dr. praegar veggie nugget, tofu, hard boiled egg, offer water.
2 pm - 3 oz whole milk
3 pm - snack from snack bin, puffs, or possibly yo baby yogurt, babybel cheese
5pm - snack if still at day care
6:30 - dinner, similar to lunch, or whatever we are having if finger-friendly
7:30 nurse (again not sure how much intake, it's probably just for comfort at this point)

We are trying to inrease his whole milk intake now that he has transitioned off breastmilk. He only likes to eat finger food and not be spoon fed, so I find myself only serving him "de-constructed" foods like chunky beef stew (only the solid pieces, not the soup).

Our 13 mo is at daycare, and gets two meals and three snacks there, plus a meal at home. Her day looks like this:

7:30am - Breakfast at daycare: any combination of :eggs, sausage, bacon, cheerios, kix, fruit, pancakes, waffles, toast, english muffin, bagel.

9:00am - morning snack - options: fruit, crackers

11:00am - lunch: options: pasta, quesadilla, chicken, taquito, shepherds pie, fish, etc, fruit/vegetables

2:00pm - snack

4:00pm - snack

6:00pm - dinner at home: protein (chicken, turkey, beef, eggs) and vegetables. Fruit/yogurt if still hungry. small portion of carbs.

We try to limit her carbs at dinner because she gets quite a few during the day. She is offered milk at each meal and water at snack. If she's thirsty before bed, we typically offer milk again.

My 13 month old is very similar- and he's in daycare too and we are very lucky they provide breakfast (usually fruit, applesauce and cereal) and lunch (entree, veggie and milk). I also always pack him healthy snacks like yogurt (make myself with just plain, whole fat, Greek yogurt with all different fruit purees- this week is apple cinnamon) or fruit cups or string cheese.
My son eats dinner at 6 and that's a little early for my husband and I as we are barely home from work. So I've found that I always try to make a healthy-toddler friendly meal the night before and then he eats our leftovers. It really seems to work! Last night I had roated acorn squash and grilled chicken so that's what he is having tonight.

My LO just eats whatever I eat, I always share my meal with her. She used to eat a lot of cheese too, but we got the no no from the doctor for cheese because she's been having constipation issues. She gets milk during breakfast, lunch, and before bed and drinks water during dinner and with snack. What we ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Hard boiled egg (the only way she'll eat eggs), toast, prunes (because of the constipation)
Lunch: Organic turkey hot dog, peas, and fruit
Snack: Prunes and yogurt
Dinner: Spinach, tomato, and mushroom pizza. It had goat cheese too but I kept it off of her part.

At 15 mos:

Wake up - 7:30.
Breakfast - 8:30 or so - two kinds of fruit (melon, bananas, berries, or whatever) and Cheerios or a multigrain waffle.
Lunch - 12:30 or so - usually fruit, tofu/chicken, cheese, maybe some crackers/pasta.
Dinner - 5:30 or so - similar to lunch, with a veggie or two thrown in, like steamed carrots or broccoli, or some of what we're having if it's kid-friendly.

He gets a sippy of milk with each meal. Sometimes he finishes it, sometimes he doesn't. He doesn't seem to need a snack, but he eats more than most toddlers during meals, probably.

hi guys! i'm still trying to figure out good ideas for food for my 13-month old son. would you guys mind sharing what a typical day looks like for your kiddos?

this is a typical day for my LO (although how much he eats
versus how much he throws on the floor is still up for debate)

7 AM (or whenever he wakes): 5 oz milk, followed by cereal mixed with applesauce and water.

11 AM: 5 oz milk, followed by a veggie snack (either a Dr. Praeger spinach pancake, a frozen veggie (crinkle cut carrots, cauliflower), a homemade zucchini muffin, or if i'm pressed for time, a jar of baby food vegetables)

12ish: half a grilled sandwich (cheese and low-sodium turkey, just a cheese sandwich, maybe a tuna melt, maybe a tortilla with cheese and black beans) or cheese omelet

3 PM: 5 oz milk, followed by a fruit (he'll usually eat a whole pear or nectarine or peach, minus the skin)

4 PMish: another small "meal" like at 12pm

7 PMish: bites of whatever DH and I are having for dinner; if we're out at a restaurant he'll get at least one pack of Mum-mums; we may have also brought along a strip cheese for him.

7:30: 5 oz milk

And he drinks water throughout the day and if he seems to be fussy he'll get some Zweiback toast or some puffs/Cheerios.

I know I'm relying on cheese too much but it makes everything stick together so he's more likely to eat the meal instead of dissecting it and throwing 80% of it on the floor.
