@grizz: Skewers would be fun. And easy for me to throw together.

OOOO FUN. I think meat/cheese/cracker platter (BOURSIN NOM NOM), grapes, cookies, and wine sounds like a winning combo. I don't like heavy mayo things in the heat, though...i'm always paranoid it'll spoil, too!

I would do cheese/meat/crackers, fruit, pasta salad, cucumber sandwiches, rollups, and some wine. I would just grab some premade mini brownies/mini tarts or something for dessert.

We make fun skewers for stuff like this, so that we don't have to bring utensils. Caprese skewers, fruit skewers, etc.

@Mrs.Someone: Thanks, I need to add dessert to the list.

I think we are going to do chicken salad sandwiches, pasta or potato salad, and fruit/veggies. I am hitting up Costco Friday afternoon. We are each bringing our own booze.

We did this before with another couple. We brought appetizers and drinks. We had veggies, fruit, cheese, wine, and something else I can't remember.

I would either: a) do the sandwich and salads route like Mrs.Someone suggested (although I would probably add some chocolate chip cookies and drinks), or b) I would do baguette or crackers with an assortment of cheese, fruit, olives, dried meats, etc (and since I love me some dessert some kind of pastry or chocolate for dessert).

Let's say you were going to a concert with 2 other couples. The venue allows you to bring in coolers for food and drinks. You have a table to eat on. What would you bring?
