Do a mix!

Do a deli sandwich line and you can set it up cute in adorable dishes and serving ware.
And also serve a little tea inspired desserts section of little petit fours and the like!

Pre made party food (tea). I am not a fan of having to build my own lunch standing in a buffet line because I feel rushed.

I voted for option one, but I agree with others who say to do a mix. I would do simple, more substantial sandwiches, like chicken salad on croissants. I wouldn't do the typical tiny tea sandwiches. But then I would choose tarts, mini quiches, scones, etc. as the sides... and I would buy them as much as you can so you don't have to do tons of work!

I'd do the deli sandwiches. As a guest that's what I'd like to eat, and it would be simpler for you.

I say a mix - the sandwiches from #2 but sides from #1.

I voted #1

Some tuna sandwiches, egg and cress sandwiches, cheese and cucumber sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, salad.

Option one, tea food for sure. You could also have some savoury tarts in the mix and cornish pasties, pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs etc to make it filling enough for everyone.

I agree with @Habesbabe. Tea food always seems more like a snack, even if I eat tons. I would do the deli sandwiches with sides & dessert.... I think if done right they can still look/feel really nice for your theme.

Tea food isn't filling enough for me, and it's a LOT of work! I made tea sandwiches for my BFF's bridal shower, and although everything looked super cute, people were still hungry and it took a lot of time!

I vote tea food if you have the energy, but don't overdo it if you don't feel like it :-) I'm sure people would enjoy the sandwiches too!

Option one is definitely nicer, but if you are doing a lot of DIY already, just do the sandwiches so that you can enjoy the party too!

I'm trying to decide what to serve at C's 1st birthday. We're doing a vintage-y, burlap and lace kind of theme and her party is at 1pm.

Option 1:
Do english tea food (with a twist), tea sandwiches, tarts, cakes, savory scones, etc. Fits the theme, more work for me.

Option 2:
Set up DIY deli sandwiches and then serve regular sides and dessert. Easier but more ordinary.

Opinions? Her party is in 2 weeks, so I need to decide what I;m doing. With the time frame of the event, I need to serve something substantial enough to be considered lunch.
