I've heard oatmeal really helps! My mom had THREE different soups simmering on our stove at all times for like a month after I gave birth. I have heard from multiple sources (Korean and not) that miyuk gook, or seaweed soup, is supposed to help with milk production. But I think it's just soup in general that gets you nice and hydrated.

Regarding oatmeal, what about stuff like granola bars that have oats in them?

Yep, those two (among other things like seaweed soup) were big on helping me produce more milk. The pigs feet took some time to get used to but I just drank that really fast. It's so fatty. LOL! I love papaya so ate lots of it in soups mostly b/c I could get my liquids in and papaya at the same time. I also and still eat oatmeal every morning and I think that helps. Make sure oatmeal is the old fashion kind and not the quick 1-minute kind. Soy milk is also big on helping produce more milk. I also drank some other icky Chinese medicine to help me recover as well.

My mom wants me to drink papaya soup too but I don't like the taste. Bleh. Does it really work? If it does maybe I'll suck it up and TRY to drink it.

@Smurfette: @katsupgirl: to be honest I'm not really sure but it could be because instant oatmeal often contains other ingredients (milk powder, sugar etc) and has been processed / ground to make it instant?

When is it suggested that you start consuming more foods that promote milk production? I'm still pregnant, but just curious. Oatmeal was my first food aversion upon finding out I was pregnant, but I can probably start loving it again. ;)

Oatmeal (not the instant kind) is a great galactalogue, flaxseed and brewers yeast will also boost supply (think lactation cookies).

Make sure to eat plenty of good nutritious calories, for me personally I had to eat HEAPS to keep my supply strong.
