We kept a box of cereal there for breakfast and then I sent one serving of homemade purée for lunch from about 6-8 months. After that she started doing table foods off the daycare menu. I would definitely send food. It's important to get enough iron rich foods at this age and your babe may get hungry! Mine are a lot at that age- daycare definitely wouldn't have been ok with no solids!

My daycare thought I was a little kooky with the BLW, but once they got used to it it was fine. They were actually excited for my younger daughter (6 months) to start solids so they could see her crazy lunches. Today she had left over baked falafel.

I would explain what you do at home and see if they're experienced/comfortable with it. I feel like you do have to be a lot more vigilant to do baby led weaning and comfortable if baby starts gagging. If they're not ok with it, I would send simple homemade foods, as suggested above.

We did BLW with my LO and the daycare was pretty much okay with it. I definitely packed "mushier" foods since they were a little paranoid about choking - I would pack smooshed blueberries, quartered grapes, banana chunks, avocado, sweet potatoes, etc. I'm sure they probably spoon fed him some of it, but it didn't matter to me.

We did baby-led weaning at home but sent homemade oatmeal or chunky purees to daycare at first - I think just 6-7 months? By 8 months she was eating at least part of the daycare menu (I was able to circle items to approve them).

We packed pouches and solids for them to spoon feed her. Once she got the hang of self-feeding, she fed herself pouches. You could pre-mash everything and send it in containers for them to spoon feed to him unless they are okay with him self-feeding.

My 6 month old has been dabbling with solids for the past month, and just really got the hang of food two weeks ago. We've been doing a modified baby led weaning approach (we use mesh feeders and will spoon feed him small bites of soft foods in public). Due to allergies, he can't have most baby foods. Pouches, puffs, melts, jars, and cereals are out.

He's been on three substantial meals a day for the past two weeks while daycare has been closed and he won't nap for me without having solids first. I'm afraid he won't take an afternoon nap at daycare because he will be waiting for lunch.

I'm trying to figure out if I should pack food for daycare, and if so, what. Maybe a mushy avocado or sweet potato? I'm fine if he doesn't have solids there, as long as he sleeps. What are you guys doing?
