Not sure if I'm too late to this thread, but I recently wrote a post about some awesome Seattle food spots for Trippy.com: http://blog.trippy.com/2014/06/13/thank-you-trippy-a-members-two-day-solo-trip-to-seattle/

I would definitely try to grab a meal at Le Pichet, and the donuts at Daily Dozen are amazing, if you're into donuts.

Mistral Kitchen is fantastic as well.

@blackbird: I went to hot cakes last time i was there for work... soo good! All the good oyster bars were torture to this pregnant lady who loooves raw oysters.

Check out Skillet in Capital hill. I usually stay at the Sheraton downtown and you can walk to skillet from there... it's a bit of a long walk but it's through a cool neighborhood. Or you could always just drive. There's also some good ice cream shops on capital hill

@blackbird: For sushi I highly recommend Umi. Its in Belltown- pretty close by. Also recommend Purple (especially if you like wine)

For lunches: Salumi (acutally in Pioneer Square), the Piroshki in the market, Il Corvo for amazing Italian.

If you don't mind going up to Capitol Hill: Sitka & Spruce for dinner (I love all of che Matt Dillon's restaurants) and Bakery Nouveau for the most amazing pastries

Since its 410, I think I'm going to venture out for an early dinner instead of going back to the hotel. Japonessa is on my list though!

Great advice from @JoJoGirl's brother. I love Japonessa, though it isn't the most authentic sushi. The international district is an easy bus ride away (find the transit tunnel) and has some fantastic asian food (check yelp out, the only restaurant I know much about is Maneki).

Some Seattle advice:

Oh yeah, lots! For sushi, I strongly recommend Japonessa, which is just a couple of block from Pike Place and for my money is the best sushi in the city. It's sort of sushi-mexican fusion - they have a lot of really interesting spicy sushi rolls.

We're about an 8-10 minute walk from all of the following: Pike Place Market of fish throwing fame, the first Starbucks (part of Pike Place market); the Olympic sculpture park; the Seattle aquarium; comedy clubs; burlesque shows at Pink Door, Can Can, Triple Door; giant Ferris Wheel (seattle's "Great Wheel"); Duck Tour; Seattle underground tour. 20 minute walk or 8 minute cab ride to the Space Needle, Seattle Center, MOHI museum, kayak rentals. 35 minute drive to Boeing factory tour if you want to see giant airplanes being built. Also 8 minute walk from Seattle Art Museum, and the retail shopping core if you're into shopping. REI flagship store, a 3 story mecca for outdoorsy people, also a ten minute walk.

Pike Place is great fun if you've never been there and has the best mini doughnuts in the history of the world. If you're into Burlesque there's a huge burlesque scene here. The Duck Tour exists in other cities, too; an amphibious vehicle that drives you both through downtown Seattle and floats you on Lake Union. The Underground Tour is uniquely Seattle and slightly cheeseball but fun. For my money I love the Boeing tour because I love big machines, I love seeing how things are made, I love airplanes, and it's so very uniquely Seattle. The Space Needle is uniquely seattle, of course, and you can go up to the top and see a good view and eat (in an overpriced restaurant that rotates so you can see the view in all directions).

For sushi, go to Umi Sake House. You won't be disappointed! It's my favorite place to eat when I'm in Seattle.

In the market itself, there are tons of options. Pink Door is pretty good Italian, but I love Matt's In the Market, which is upscale American. For pastries and sandwiches, Michie Deli and Le Panier are awesome, as is the Piroshki place (all are on the same block as the original Starbucks). Up on First Ave, grab a snack at the Crumpet Shop. There's also a French place on First and Virginia, I can't remember the name but it is delicious. A little further south on First are Fonte (good coffee and food) and Lecosho (owned by the same guy as Matt's In the Market). Purple, at Fourth and University, is good if you're looking for a wine bar.

Up in Belltown, there are tons of good options. Local 360 was mentioned and I agree -- but the owners of Local 360 just opened another restaurant called Bell & Whete which I'm dying to try (66 taps!!).

I wish I could meet up with you and take you on a food tour, haha!

I agree with all the other suggestions, though I do think there is better Thai in Seattle than Wild Ginger (in the U District though). Also check out anything by Ethan Stowell, and the Belltown neighborhood. If you want to venture a little further, check out Ballard (especially La Carta de Oxacaca and Hot Cakes). Lots and lots of good food to be had :)

I'm not from Seattle but spent several weeks there for business trips awhile back (like, 2008-2009), and LOVED all of the Tom Douglas restaurants I tried (http://tomdouglas.com/): Dahlia Bakery (was across from my hotel--best egg sandwiches in the morning!), Serious Pie, I think we went to Palace Kitchen, I can't remember where else... but I know I went to a couple and they were awesome!

I'm staying downtown by the pike place market this week-there are SO many food options, I'm overwhelmed!

Any recommendations for dinner? I definitely want to eat at Wild Ginger this week. Is there a good sushi house? Anything exotic I can't get in the Midwest that's worth trying?
