My sister did the same theme for my baby shower! I'd have to look back at the pictures to recall all the options, but some off of the top of my head...
Spinach and ham mini quiche - Green Eggs and Ham
Peach pouches for littles and purées for grown ups - James and the Giant Peach
Hot chocolate bar (river) - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Potato pancakes - If You Give a Pig a Pancake
Madeleine cookies - Madeline

A friend hosted "a very hungry caterpillar" themed first birthday. They had tags on each food item that said, on the first day he ate through...., etc. It was really cute!

So I totally don't have a cutesy name for them...but I do have a heavy appetizer that has always been a huge hit. Wrap little smokies in a half slice of bacon and poke with toothpick. Sprinkle with brown sugar and bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes. They are so good and are always gone first when we serve them!

Everyone else has some amazing ideas for things that go with your theme though :)

@Mrs. Bee: It'd mainly adults, several other one year olds and a few kids. Pizza is always good, just Lucy and I couldn't eat it.

@cmomma17: Fruit kabobs is great! That would work with The Very Hungry Caterpillar :)

@chopsuey: Chips and dip for sure, I don't know why I hadn't thought of that!

@MoonMoon: I'll have to look that up! I bet kids would love that too!

@matador84: can't go wrong there!

@JoyfulKiwi: Tea sandwiches are a great idea! So far I've come up with the following (not necessarily using them all, just ones ice thought of or found):
- cloudy with a chance of meatballs: meatballs
- the very hungry caterpillar: fruit kabobs
- one fish two fish: goldfish/snack mix
- if you give a mouse a cookie: cookies
- green eggs and ham: deviled eggs, meats and cheeses
- the giving tree: caramel apples
- Peter rabbit: veggie platter

I would do heavy appetizers. Bite size snacks with a lot of proteins (like cheese, crackers, and meat). Maybe also little tea sandwiches?

Let me think about book-themed food. What are some of LO's favorite stories (or yours)?

We're celebrating Little Deer's first birthday in a couple of weeks (Yay!). I can't figure out what kind of food to serve since it's in-between meals (2-4 PM).

All you experienced party planners out there, how much and what kind of food would you serve? Her birthday is going to be at a library and we're doing a children's book themed party, so I'm hoping to tie in the food with some fun children's books (ex: The Giving Tree and some caramel apples). There's going to be about 25-35 people.

Any thoughts you have on how much and what kind of food to serve would be so appreciated! :)

** And drinks too! I'm thinking maybe water and some Izzies?
