@MsLipGloss: Did someone say Scalinis!?!?! I went there for the first time for my birthday last year. Not to induce labor, just for the free birthday dinner! Will def try that special dish someday though!

Someone said eating 8 pineapples would for sure induce labor. I did eat a lot of pineapple throughout the pregnancy but never 8 at once. (dont think its even possible) If i havent delivered by this time next week I may consider it!

I was also told ginger induces labor and I've had ginger today but I'm not in labor yet lol

Raspberry tea (boiled raspberries...drank the juice) @ 41 weeks. Sure early labor started midnight Friday, then I had to wait until Sunday morning for the actual delivery. Wouldn't recommend it. I heard inducing means jumpstarting contractions but then you can have a loooong time until delivery. I wish I would have just put my feet up, watched a movie and slept while I had a chance.

Some say pineapple, but I love pineapple and ate that throughout my pregnancy, all that gave me was heartburn. I like to think spicy Chinese eggplant helped @ 39 weeks. I ate that and the next day felt the first signs of labor.

@Mrsdaredevil: I tried eating spicy chinese food even though i hate spicy food and I made the Eggplant Parmesan from Scalini's. They have the recipe on their website. Supposedly, it's the basil that's thought to be the magic ingredient. There's nothing special in it but it is delicious! I was in my 39th week. Neither worked...on top of all of the other non-food related things I tried. I gave birth at 40w2d.

Every Jewish woman I know says Chinese. My mom had it the night before all 3 of her kids were born. But it didn't work for me. I started trying things after 37 weeks.

@MsLipGloss: I wanted my mother in law to bring me some Scalinis when she came to visit. I hear that they have a guarantee that if you don't deliver within 48 hours of eating their eggplant parmigiana, that you can go back for another dish of it on them!

Yes! There is a place in Atlanta--Scalinis-- that serves eggplant parmigiana that is *known* for inducing labor. The babies that are born after a meal there are called *Scalini Bambinis*.
:D

I don't know how legit it really is, but I am certainly going to roll the dice when I'm close to term.

I've heard eggplant parmesan, spicy foods (but only if you're someone who doesn't eat a lot of spicy foods already), LOTS of pineapple.

I've tried them all numerous times since I hit 37 weeks and no baby yet! I'm 40wks4days.

Not personal experience, but one of my gfs swears by eating pineapple that she induced the labor of all three of her boys. The lsat one of which came early at 38 weeks!

I have been reading about lots of foods that supposedly induce labor, but just a few minutes ago I read an article that says there is no proof that any of them actually work!

So, I have a couple questions for you all:

What foods have you heard of that can help induce labor?
What was your experience--did they work?
Around what stage in your pregnancy did you start to eat these foods?
