We had tile floors and the Robeez with the soft sole (the ones that you pull on) were a disaster, they were so slippery and they were too small for my son's chunky feet. Instead, I went with the Robeez mini shoes for times when he wasn't barefoot or in the antislip socks (which he still wears at age 5!)

We have wood floors. I always had my LOs in leather soled slippers like Robeez, or Robeez Mini Shoez. Contrary to what it may seem, they don't slip and slide.

@Ms.Badger: oh yes that's right! I looked for grippy socks at Target and couldn't find any crew socks in LO's size. I didn't want ankle socks cause he gets a serious gap between pants and socks with his long legs. LO is already in 18 mo Carters pjs, so he's covered there, but it's easier to do separates during the day with how fast he grows out of the sleepers.

I think I'll order some Robeez and maybe some socks. Thanks all!

@macintosh: I have done both and both things work. I usually do leather soles for my 1y old (crawling) and a pair of anti slip socks for my not quite three year old. But my DD does fine in anti slip socks too.

Our hardwoods are cold in the winter - LO has worn Robeez as her indoor shoes since she started walking - I love them.

Our LOs are the same age. J has been pulling up and cruising for a few weeks. He wears socks with grips with no problems in the house. They don't turn on him but he's kinda chunky. We just use the hanes ones.

We have Robeez shoes, but he really doesn't like to wear them and stand in them (always scrunches up his feet when we put shoes on him) so in the house we never have him wear shoes.

The 12 mo Carters jammies have grippies on the feet so that's another (lazy) option

DD is always barefoot or with socks on. I read that the less between their feet and the ground, the better they'll learn to walk. I think something like Robeez would work too! DD currently wears that for outside too, tho we are just switching over to boots now.

I found socks with grips useless haha they never stay on or get turned around so the grip is on the top! So we bought Robeez leather bottom shoes. We have a regular pair and a 'winter' pair with faux fur inside that we use as his slippers indoors now. While they're pricy, I find they fit the best and stay put, at least for our guy.

@Mrs.KMM: I worry about his feet getting cold, is that a problem in the winter? Even my feet would be cold in the house barefoot.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: that's what I'm thinking, leather soles. Thanks!

I either had DD barefoot, or with those leather moccasins and socks. I didn't notice any of them hindering her!

We have hardwoods and just leave DD barefoot at home during the day. She is 7.5 months old and pulling up on EVERYTHING! We tried socks with the grippy bottoms and they didn't seem to make any difference (feet still sliding).

I'm making a target run this afternoon and I have a question. DS is 8.5 months so not walking yet but I think he's getting ready to pull up soon. I know barefoot is best for learning to walk but it's winter and we have laminate flooring, so he always wears socks. Are socks with grippy bottoms enough to keep him from slipping, or should I get some soft soles like Robeez to wear indoors? Thanks!
