The only time I ever wrote publically was when I was planning my wedding, but my husband and I required that users be registered to see photos and read the blog content. I personally don't like the idea of being potentially identified as I am in the grocery store or while on vacation at WDW (granted, that would take a lot of readers, but still). I also worry that someone would eventually connect the dots and be able to deduce where my kid goes to school. That worries me beyond belief. I do however have a blog that only immediate family knows about, its set to private. It contains pics of lo and daily life stuff. I don't like strangers to be able to see Lo and I don't like lurkers who just want to know whats going on in my life to see pictures of LO. Back in the day, you had so much control over images of your kids. The only ways they could really get out of your control is if someone you gave a picture to gave it away without your permission, or if someone developing the film stole the image. Nowadays, the second you upload something to the Internet, it is out of your control forever. There have been cases of people's Facebook pictures of their babies being used in marketing - companies just pulled them off Google! That squicks me out. Not to mention the disgusting pedophiles that are out there.</p> <p>2. The way the Internet has changed our society makes me wonder how today's children will feel in 20 years about how their online identities were shaped before they could consent. Again, it used to be the rare case that someone could be "known" outside their family and social circle when they were young. If one of your parents was a writer and wrote about you, or if your parents were famous, or if you were a child model/actor. Now I know all about some kids who I have never met and never will meet, and I know their names and what they look like, because their mom blogs. Maybe this will become the norm, but I don't feel like it's my right to choose this for my child.</p> <p>So with my current stance, I'd be a boring blogger!
