I would get another Clek because chances are you will get use out of it if you have that 4th kiddo in a few years.

@oliviaoblivia: Well, I mean...that's up to you :silly: . I really appreciate having him forward facing. He was putting up such a fuss about getting in the seat until we turned it around. I kind of hate dealing with RF, especially in my car. But I'm well aware of how much safer rear facing is, and I'm sure if we got in an accident I'd feel terribly guilty that he wasn't still RF.

Sounds like you've got a great thing going with dd1. If you can afford it, I would say to get another Clek. They are great seats and it's amazing how long you can use it. Even if you FF at 4 or before hitting the RF limit, it seems like your oldest could still use it for a long time. Why mess with a good thing?

I always try to write out the scenarios

DD1 - RF - Present - age 4 (8 months away)
- FF Harness - January 2017-December 2017 (age 4)
- FF Booster - January 2018 - Whenever (age 5)

LO2 - Write out transition timeline

LO3 - RF Bucket - Present - age 1 (8 months away; Dec 2016)
- RF Convertible - Jan. 2017 - Dec. 2019 (assume you keep her RF until age 4 as well)

Expected LO4 - RF Bucket - 2018

@Charm54: you're right! I must have clicked on a US link.
Still six pounds could be two years.

@PinkElephant: it's ten inches and thirty pounds before she outgrows it FFing.

@T.H.O.U.: I think all things being equal I'd keep her rearfacing.

@ShootingStar: having three (maybe four) rear facing seems nutty though. I'm the only one at her school that still rear faces.

Just FYI, the foonf and Fllo in Canada only go to 40lbs rear facing, unlike 50lbs in the US. not sure if that impacts your decision.

I would probably just put her forward facing in the Fllo and buy a new one for dd3.

I ❤️ Clek too !

I don't think you can go wrong with either decision. It sounds like you'll get plenty of use out of another convertible, considering it'll get passed down. You'll get a ton of use out of the 5 point harness too, though.

We recently got a Britax Frontier for DS and I LOVE it. I hated his convertible though, and I didn't want to have to buy yet another seat down the line. It sounds you guys won't have the issue, since you'll have more kids in convertibles at once.
It may not be the same design aesthetic as the Clek, but after dealing with a seat I hated, this one is a dream to buckle him into and get him out of. Plus it's super easy to install and easy for DS to get himself into, and has a low profile - Which I need so we can fit everyone in my car when LO2 is here.

What are you hoping to do? Do you want to keep her RFing at least until 4 or are you comfortable switching her FF now in a 5pt harness?

You could always look at a Diono because they can be RFing, FF or a booster but they aren't always recommended as a booster seat with a belt (we haven't tried it yet).

If the cost isn't an issue, I'd just get another of the same Clek seats. Won't DD1 have even longer in the seat once she's FF? That might buy you enough time for her to be ready for the Oober you'd prefer (and skip the harnessed booster).

I'd post this to CSFL but...crazies.

DD1 is 3years 4 month 38.5" and 34.5 lbs.
She is currently rear facing in a Clek Fllo.

I always figured I'd turn DD1 at four but now I'm realizing she still has quite a bit of time and space left in her current seat. She won't outgrow it for another 4" and 15lbs. For forward facing she has 10.5" and 30lbs before she needs a new seat.

If DD3 didn't need a convertible in a few months I wouldn't be thinking about a new seat for DD1 at all. She's happy enough rear facing and as long as it's working I'm not messing with it.

Other info:
I have a minivan with three seats in the middle and three in the back.
We hope to have a fourth kid in two-ish years.
I'm picky and don't like the look of most car seats. Clek tugs at my heart/design strings. I'd put her in a five point Oobr if it existed in a heartbeat but she's not big/mature enough for just a highbacked booster.

Sooo....
