LiveFit is a 3 phase program. The first month is ONLY weights. Then you do weights and cardio. Then the third phase is HIIT and some other stuff. I never did the third phase because I went back to Crossfit

I did the New Rules of Lifting for Women program. It's a book that has a weight lifting program all laid out for you. Totally taught me how to lift and I got amazing results from it.

I also recommend the LiveFit program! I did that when I was rehabbing my herniated disc and it was a great way to ease in.

Personally, I do a two day split: So i do lower body one day, then upper body another day. I do each twice a week. And i also do weights first, because I want to go as heavy as I can. Sometimes i fit in a little HIIT, but I don't do a ton of cardio. On a weekend, I'll do a long day. Lift for 60 minutes, cardio for 20. During the week, I only have about 45 min, so I'll do a bunch of quick weights then head home.

@MrsBrewer: oops! Me too! looks like weights then cardio is the way to go. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/should-i-do-cardio-or-weights-first

So it sounds like the majority of people do weights first, and then cardio at the end?? I have always done it the other way around!

Maybe I will have to switch it up!

I go 3-4x a week after work (the gym is at work). I only stay for an hour and my focus is more toning than weight loss so I do. DH says to alternate muscle groups to give them a chance to heal and rest.

Mon: Cardio, upper body (I just go down the line of machines), abs
Tue: Cardio, legs (down the line of machines also), abs
Wed, cadrio, upper, abs
Friday, Upper, legs, abs

I go to the gym at lunch (we have one on my work campus, with full locker-room and showers), so my actual workout time is limited to 30-45 minutes, depending on my meetings scheduled for the day.

3x a week (ideally) I go to a 45 minute spin class. The other 2 days I usually do 15-20 minutes on the elliptical and then do upper body/arm machines for another 10-15 minutes. I do sets of 10 on each machine, and just repeat them (there are 3 machines I use).

I also do 20-40 situps and aim for 10 oblique situps each day, too.

Super quick shower, get dressed and head back to my office.

a trainer once told me it's best to do cardio at the end (not sure if that's true) but i've stuck to that ever since.
i always decide before i go what muscle groups i wanna focus on. so i'll do weights at the beginning and just mix it up depending on how i feel. i usually do that for about 20-25 mins. if i feel kinda cold when i arrive i'll do like 5 mins on the bike just to warm up. then i do about 30 mins on the treadmill alternating running & walking. sometimes i'll do abs on the floor after cardio. maybe every other time i go?

I've always read that you get more bang for your buck if you do weights before cardio, but I have a favorite treadmill, so I get on that first thing if it's open when I arrive. On days with a shorter run (less than 5 miles), I try to do at least 30 minutes of weights - sometimes just arms, sometimes mixing in legs. My gym's nursery allows me to leave LO for 90 minutes, so I take full advantage on those days. I'm kind of in a rut, though, so I'm looking forward to seeing other responses.

Depends. Sometimes, I do some weights first and then jump on the threadmill for 30 minutes or so. Sometimes, Im lazy and just do cardio for a bit. Other times I just do weights. I was told by my doctor to do weights first, because it helps burn more calories when you do the cardio after.

I did just get recommended to this program, which i think Im going to try out. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-easons-livefit-phase-1.html

I like to do strength circuits first, and then cardio after (although after a while i started doing jillian michaels videos at home instead and only doing cardio at the gym because i hated waiting for benches and weights, and i am self conscious so i got a better workout at home)

I go at night after DS is asleep (7/730).

I do 30+ minutes of cardio, 15 minutes floor work/stretching, 20-30 minutes of wtlifting (rotation different body parts on different days). Sometimes I add in swimming and do less of the floorwork and wtlifting (time-wise).

I try to go every other day and take it easy on the wknds. 3x a week is my goal right now every week.

What does your normal day at the gym look like?

I just signed up last week, and I would love to find a good routine/plan. That way I'm not just mindlessly wandering around!

I know the best thing would be to work with a personal trainer, but I don't have the money for that right now!
