My suggestion would be gift certificate to do something. Like go to a museum or a pottery/painting class or some other experience that LO might be interested in.

@PinkElephant: as for subscriptions, DD gets Highlights (they make one for toddlers, and another for 3-6 year olds) and something called Little Passports, which is all about travel. It follows three imaginary characters nd comes with a map and little suitcase. Every month, they send stickers, postcards, and a souvenier. It's very cute!

What about lessons to something? My parents gifted my son soccer lessons one year.

What about some kind of remote controlled car? I know it kind of skews male, with the cars and monster trucks, but it could be tons of fun and is something that can be done outside.

@PinkElephant: yes I told my Mom they couldn't do her first movie in the theatre. I said that is reserved for us.

@mrsjazz: Cool - thanks! I'm thinking DD will need a lot of help with the projects, but love that we could do it together without me needing to gather all the stuff.

@Smurfette: I really like this idea, and I bet they would, too! I want to reserve American Girl for myself, I think, but would be happy to let them do Build A Bear or a special museum/aquarium trip. The zoo is par for the course when they visit!

@LiveLove: These are awesome ideas...and my kids have all of them other than a kid-specific sprinkler! I think there is a cute Melissa & Doug one - Maybe I'll check that out! ☺️

I wasn't kidding when I said they have everything - we have a very large and generous family!!

@PinkElephant: @caterw: My LO got Kiwi Crate for her 4th birthday and she loves it. She loves getting the box and showing us it has her name on it. It's a fun family activity, plus it also comes with a little magazine LO likes.

DD is 2.5 and loves her Kiwi crates. She still needs a lot of help to do the crafts but it's a cool thing for us to do together, plus she loves getting mail with her name on it. She is also a totally fiend for her outside pool. She has a very basic one and will sit and play in it for hours.

Trying to think of things that are not "toys" and are useful- what about a sleeping bag, kids cookbook with apron and kid sized tools, a sprinkler/slip n slide, or a kids tent? My son was gifted a Melissa and Doug tent and I didn't think he would use it often, but he sleeps in it in his room all the time. 😀 One other idea would be a picnic basket-my kids are all about packing picnics and going to the park.

@PinkElephant: my 4 yo has a subscription to the Highlights magazine for her age, High Five. She loves it!! It has three shorter stories, a poem and a cartoon, plus hidden pictures, two other puzzles and some cute activities. So the content is great plus she loves getting mail with her name on it!

Any gift suggestions for the kid who has everything? This "kid" in question is my soon to be 4 year old daughter...my MIL has asked for birthday gift suggestions, because she and my FIL feel like my kids have way too many toys (true) and clothes (also true)...but they'd still like her to have a gift to open, rather than stock shares or a contribution to a college account.

I'm thinking of suggesting the following:

- some kind of subscription box - does anyone do Kiwi Crate or a similar craft/activity box? Does your LO like it?

- a magazine or book club subscription (any suggestions on ones you like? We used to get Zoobies but she's way too big for it now)

- an outdoor toy like an upgraded kiddie pool or a plastic slide or something (my MIL had suggested a really cool swing but realized we don't have a tree branch low enough fort a swing)

Also open to any other thoughts - I'm kind of stumped myself!
