@ladyfingers: I suggest getting the aloe vera straight from the source so there aren't any added chemicals! Plus I feel so pampered when I see DH snipping off the plant and extracting the gel for me :) ..

@cokiezombie: Thanks for this! I wonder if the aloe vera gel in the stores would help too? I don't think I have PUPPS -- there are no marks -- but the area where my muscles are stretching and tearing is numb and hurts/stings like a bitch, and scratching doesn't help because it's numb. It's awful!!

I was using Bio Oil at the start of my 2nd trimester. A week later, my belly started getting realllllly itchy and little red bumps started appearing.

DH got an aloe vera plant from his coworker and he started extracting the gel to apply to my itchy belly every night. A week later, wahh la la... no more itchiness and red bumps are all gone!

I read that eating aloe vera is not recommended during pregnancy because it causes the uterus to contract, but external application is fine. Just throwing it out there for other mama-to-bees who are experiencing itchiness. The aloe vera plant only costs about $20-$30 but it's a lifesaver!
