Were there any defining moments that signaled to you that you were no longer a child, or that you were definitely into adulthood?</p> <p>for me i feel like my adolescence started fairly early at around 10. i'm the oldest of four children and my father moved out and broke off contact with us when I was 9. i remember feeling like i had to replace him and help mum out with everything (my youngest brother was only 4 at the time) because she took the separation pretty hard.<br /> i would say adolescence ended for me at 18 when i finished high school, and moved (a 7 hour drive away) out of home to go to college</p> <p>2. What stressed you out the most as an adolescent?</p> <p>the acne! omg</p> <p>3. Who was the most important person in your life as an adolescent? The most influential?</p> <p>my mama. watching her raise 4 kids on her own and get a degree at the same time was amazing. i would be glad to be half the parent she was</p> <p>4. What is the worst act of bullying you witnessed or were a part of as a teen?</p> <p>to be honest, i went to a religious (LDS) high school, and can't remember a single instance of bullying, either done by, or happening to me or someone i knew. </p> <p>5. Did you struggle with your physical body? Partially for developmental changes in my body but I also feel like I matured a lot earlier than my peers did, not because I had to but it is just how my parents raised us. DH and I were buying things for our apartment and getting ready to move out on our own.</p> <p>Depression for sure. Closely followed by weight issues and the desire to fit in. I was on anti depressants since 8th grade for reference.</p> <p>My sister, hands down. She's 3 years older and was incredibly influential over my choices, style, plans and goals. </p> <p>I don't know, it either wasn't bad enough to catch my eye or didn't happen in my schools. Our HS was very divided but it was more racial than cool vs dorky. </p> <p>YES. I struggled for yeaaarrrs with periods of binging and purging or extreme restricting. Purging has stuck with me despite therapy and out patient rehab (short term). I think it will always be a part of me. I don't recall ever feeling beautiful or sexy. I defiantly don't now at 16 weeks pregnant. I know I'll get there one day, it's high time I guess.</p> <p> I can elaborate or clear anything up, just ask! I'm 24.</p> <p>1. When would you say adolescence started and ended for you? Were there any defining moments that signaled to you that you were no longer a child, or that you were definitely into adulthood?</p> <p>Adolescence began for me at age 12. That's when I got my period, when boobs showed up, etc. I definitely wouldn't have considered myself a 'kid' anymore. Adolescence ended probably at age 19 - I had been away from home at university for a year, and DH and I were just talking about when we might get engaged.</p> <p>2. What stressed you out the most as an adolescent?</p> <p>I had/have serious social anxiety and depression, so I think everything stressed me out. My grades were a huge source of stress, as were other people's opinions of me. </p> <p>3. Who was the most important person in your life as an adolescent? The most influential?</p> <p>For the majority of adolescence, my mom was the most important person to me, and her opinions definitely shaped who I was and how I turned out. </p> <p>4. What is the worst act of bullying you witnessed or were a part of as a teen?</p> <p>I don't know that I was a witness to or directly involved in any major acts of bullying. There were definitely the 'popular' cliques who said some typically-awful teenaged things, and there were kids who were excluded or alienated from these groups, but nothing really stands out.</p> <p>5. Did you struggle with your physical body? When have you been most confident in your physical self, and when were you least confident? </p> <p>I definitely struggled, though looking back, I shouldn't have beaten myself up about it. My anxiety about what other people thought of me turned into a ridiculous focus on what I was and wasn't eating, and in turn led to some disordered eating for a time period. I cannot remember per se a defining moment for my childhood ending but I would say I felt like an adult at 19 when my then boyfriend (now DH) and I bought our first house.
