I nearly had a c-section with my first -- he was huge and wouldn't drop down into a good position for the longest time during labor -- so if I end up delivering at or after my due date a c-section would not be unexpected. I'm definitely preparing myself for it way more than I did last time, though we are still hoping for a low-intervention birth at our birthing center.

I had an unplanned c-section with my 2nd due to fetal distress. Labor went really quick but when it was time to push the baby would not tolerate and his heart rate kept dropping and took a long time to recover. Unfortunately even though the way had been paved I wasn't going to be a 2 pushes and out delivery and my dr recommend a c. It was a big shock but after pushing 3 + hours the first time I wasn't completely upset. We could also tell the nurse had freaked out during the practice pushing when baby's heart rate dropped so we were nervous too. Thankfully everything was fine when he was born. He just didn't want to be pushed out haha! The nurses said that a c after a normal vaginal delivery was pretty rare.

Vaginal both times. I did almost have an emergency c with the first. Ended up tearing super super bad because he was sunny side up. I always wonder if because I delivered dd standing up that effected the minimal tearing and complications I experience with my first birth.

My friend just had a c section after a vaginal birth (9ish years apart). They discovered her second baby was breech 3 days before her due date. She had been checked at 37 weeks and she was head down.

Another friend had a c section for #2 because baby's hand came out during labor.

I came very close to having an emergency C-section with LO1 (midwife said I was going to OR but the OB that would have done the C-section cleared me to keep pushing). I almost expect it this time around when I deliver in a few weeks. I think DH is more 'committed' to the idea of a vaginal birth this time than I am.

The only person I know who had to have a c-section after a successful vaginal delivery had to because her second was Frank Breech. They placed the epidural and tried to do an external version to be followed by induction, but baby did not respond well so they went ahead and did the c-section.

I'm really hoping to have another vaginal delivery.

I had a vaginal birth for my first, and for my second, who was a stillbirth. I had a scheduled c section for my youngest, but I knew from the day I was pregnant that I'd be having a c section.

I have a thread on here where I asked a zillion questions and many moms on here were kind enough to answer all of them and share their experiences. It really helped me to mentally prepare for it. I'll find the link for you.

LO's shoulder was stuck but I was able to deliver vaginally (with plenty of tearing) so my OB said if we have another she would recommend a c section for baby's safety.

I had a vaginal birth with C and hope for the same with the next one. But if I'm going to have a c section I would really really prefer it to be planned and know about it in advance so I could mentally prepare- and not have to push for hours first! If the baby was breech I would have to talk to the midwives about it but would do the c section is the recommend it.

I know of someone who had a vaginal delivery with her first and a c-section with her second, but I don't know the details of why it happened.

I had a vaginal delivery with both of mine.

@lamariniere: this will be me.

I had super bad tearing and my doctor said I could opt for a c section because tearing the same way could be bad news for me.

My recovery was honestly so brutal I'm not too worried.

A friend of mine had a vaginal birth with LO1, but he came out with his hand by his head and she sustained major tearing/birth trauma. She had an elective c-section for LO2. She would have preferred vaginal, but given what had happened the first time, her OB highly recommended the c-section and it went smoothly (her LOs were 18 months apart).

I almost had an emergency c-section with DD so I feel like I'd be okay with a c-section, whenever that's decided. But I def would still be upset since I'd still prefer vaginal!

did you have to a c-section with any subsequent pregnancies? Do you know anyone who had the experience of both?

DH's friend's wife just had her 3rd baby girl and had to have a c-section due to baby's position being breech. She find out in advanced, but she was still upset about it after having her first two girls vaginally.

I think I would def need the time in advance to process and ready myself for a c-section, esp after having had DS1 vaginally.
