I took Protonix last pregnancy when OTC medications stopped being effective. No shame in taking meds, being miserable doesn't make pregnancy any better.

I have severe GERD and a medication change, rather than additional medication, makes all the difference during pregnancy! My current medication for this pregnancy is Dexilant which is the best I have ever had. Last pregnancy I switched from Prevacid to 600 mgs of Zantac, which was better than the Prevacid, but not as good as the Dexilant.

I have GERD, which was under control (with medication) before pregnancy with Omeprezole. When I got rpegnant, my doctor advised me to switch to Ranitidine (Zantac) but my heartburn got so much worse, I had to start taking it twice a day, morning and night and chew tums as well.

After pregnancy, my heartburn is better but definitely still there. But I'm making no current attempts to control it through diet (like, I know I should reduce my caffeine intake, my carbonated drink intake, reduce acidic foods, etc...and I haven't been doing that).

I had acid reflux before I was pregnant and it did continue, but was no worse during pregnancy. I take over the counter medication if it gets really bad, but otherwise the thing which really helps me is to eat little and often. If I have a big meal I always suffer afterwards :(

I've had acid reflux for a long time too, probably since high school. I am currently on Prevacid and 29 weeks pregnant. I tried to avoid taking it for a few days in the first trimester, but I couldn't keep anything down without it. I wish I knew a way to prevent it without medication, but I'm afraid it's the only thing that helps me. I would get heartburn and indigestion after only water at times!

I had horrible heartburn before I got pregnant and I could get away with taking ranitidine until 21ish weeks then I took omeprazole. There is absolutely no way I could have gotten away with not taking medication. The thing that worked best for me was taking gaviscon liquid before bedtime, it was a godsend.

I always had heartburn issues, I was told I probably had GERD, which means lots of things like prescription TUMS in my house. I don't take a prescription any more, I find I can control it by drinking more water, milk and reducing spices. However, when I was pregnant, my doctor gave me a prescription which was my best friend all 9 months. You know that old wives tale about lots of heartburn meaning your baby is hairy? Oh yeah, she had a full head of dark hair!

I have had pretty severe acid reflux for many years. I think I was in 7th grade when I was diagnosed. My reflux is usually very well controlled with Prevacid, however this is not the case anymore.

I noticed having some reflux a little bit at night over the last week or so, but this has now progressed into all day reflux (I'm 7 weeks pregnant today).

So I have two questions, did the acid reflux continue through your entire pregnancy? Do you have any tricks to deal with it? I would like to try not to have to do anything with medication, considering I am already on something, but I'd love to hear any tricks you all have!
