@Anagram: I suppose it could be possible, but I'd want to see pics! She probably would look REALLY tiny! LO was just under 18lbs at her 1yr check up and the ped was concerned and wants me to feed her more and more! * This also makes me think of all the selective memories moms & gams have. Like - I walked out of the delivery room wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes, etc.

It's possible, DH's cousin's little girl is only 20 pounds at 2 1/2 years. She's VERY small looking...

@Mrs. Jump Rope: we have her official 9 month appt this Saturday, so we'll see. I don't have an accurate scale at home, but when I weigh her with me, she's somewhere between 16.5-17 lbs and at her 7 month appt she was already almost 17 lbs, so I'm a little concerned she's stayed the same for 2 months or even lost a couple oz.

Which sucks because we had 2 really good months (from 5-7 months) where she was drinking milk like a champ.

@Anagram: you're making me want to go look up Chloe's stats! I don't think she was 16lbs at 9 months. I remember at her first birthday she wasn't quite triple her birth weight (so, under 21lbs).

Is your ped concerned?

My nana "remembers" things too. I think the lines get blurred after 3 kids (she had 5).

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh, I totally understand why she can't remember. She just keeps insisting she *can* remember perfectly. This conversation all came about because my LO has been having a stretch of bad eating again for the past 2 weeks and averaging only 18 oz of bm a day, plus barely eating solids (like a couple tablespoons on a GOOD day) at each meal.

And my mom is like, oh, stop worrying...16.5 lbs is big for a 9 month old---she's fine! Your sister was only 18 lbs at 2 years. Blah blah. I know 16.5 lbs isn't tiny but it's definitely not *big* for a 9 month old and not big enough that I feel like I can stop caring about how much my LO is eating!

You know...Moms, what can you do...I know she's trying to help in her way, but it doesn't help me when she acts like I'm overreacting for no reason. Especially when my doctor is telling me LO should still be drinking at least 24 oz a day and we're 6 oz short over and over.

I don't blame her for having a hard time remembering with six kids! I'm trying to think what Chloe was and realy don't remember!

She's about 25-26lbs at 2.5yrs so I guess being around 18-20lbs doesn't really surprise me?

@tinyperson: yeah, I figured it was too small! I think she was 18 lbs at a year. I mean, she was always short but in pictures she looks fairly chubby.

Not quite the same, but I just spoke to my MIL last week and she swears that my 3yo nephew is 24lbs for 41.5 inches. I don't believe her, but anything is possible?

I have a friend with a child who is 28 pounds at 4.5 years so 18 at 2 would have been a bit of a stretch but not outside the realm of possibility.

That seems REALLY tiny at 2 years old. I could totally see it at 1 though. Then again, my 14 month old is HUGE and almost 30 pounds, so what do I know?!? lol

My LO is 19 lbs at 16 months, and she's been followed by an endocrinologist since about 6 months because the pediatrician was concerned with her growth. I'd say 18 lbs at 2 years is possible, but they'd be really tiny.

My son is 21 pounds at 19 months. He only gained 2 ounces from 12-18 months. He's very tall but very skinny. If he wasn't tall I could see 18lbs being a possibility. Toddlers seem to really thin out at that age.

My mother claims that my little sister was 18 lbs at 2 years old. I think she's having hazy memory problems (I am one of 6 kids, so she doesn't always remember every detail the way she thinks she does).

Although my little sister was always on the small side, I don't think she was *that* small! The rest of were were totally average-bordering-on-big.

So, is that possible? 18 lbs at 2 years? I looked at the WHO chart and I *think* that would make her less than 2% if I'm reading the chart correctly, but honestly, that chart is confusing to me, so I don't know.

*I'm thinking she was actually 18 lbs at 1 year.
