I used gDiapers--their newborn pants are my favorite by far!

@MrsCB: They were the super brites. I didn't know they had a cord notch! I'm sure they're fine but i felt the edges were a bit stiff and would probably try and find something softer for the next baby.

@caffeinated: Were you using the whisper wrap or the super brites? I was thinking of getting a couple newborn super brites since they have the cord notch, but if they brush up against it anyways maybe those aren't a good idea.

We used kissaluv fitteds in the NB size and they have a snapdown button on the front. It worked well! My only regret was getting the velcro bummis covers because they sometimes grazed the cord.

We started on day 4, so LO still had the cord attached. The best fit at that point was GMD prefolds in a newborn size with Bummis Cover. We could fold down the prefold so it fit under the cord. Also FWIW we waited until after the meconium was out- wouldn't want to have to clean that.

I think it's just hard to see the "dip" on some of the NB covers. Baby isn't here yet but I have a Prorap cover that has a dip: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Prorap-Newborn-Green-Classic-Cloth-Diaper-Cover-Gussets-/261107155102?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ccb33009e

so does Thirsties http://www.amazon.com/Thirsties-Diaper-Cover-Celery-X-Small/dp/B001TUYH6I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350530276&sr=8-2&keywords=newborn+diaper+cover

@Arden: yeah I have looked at those... Gets a bit expensive for newborns though especially if u have a big baby! I was more thinking pre folds with covers... But I can't seem to find covers with cut outs etc. @Mrs. Superhero: ooooh now that's clever!

I did some fancy snapping with my applecheeks, I think I snapped the top snap on the sides to the middle snaps on the bottom row instead of to the top row, then folded the diaper over a bit. Does that make sense?

I know of a few that have newborn snap downs. Lil'Joey and Kissaluvs have snap downs, and GroVia are low rise enough to work. gDiapers tiny gpants also work.

As in day 1, with the umbilical cord still attached. What did you use? Recommend away!!
I'm having trouble finding them with the snap downs/cut outs, was it necessary?
