@TheSwissWifeStyle: I've been to Dubai twice! The shopping is definitely great :-) I would highly recommend a "dune bashing" excursion. I believe that there are several companies offering day trips out to the desert (and they would pick you up at your hotel). You spend some time being driven around the dunes in a 4X4 (watch out if you get motion sick though!) and then you head to a a "camp" in the desert where you get a traditional dinner and watch a belly dancing show.

I also went on a camel riding/sand snowboarding excursion while there, but I found the dune bashing to be the best one!

For some more traditional shopping, you can check out the gold souk (market), spice souk, etc. And horse and camel racing are also pretty big in Dubai.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: :) They also have a horse track too if that's more your thing. I found that while googling for the car race track.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I just watched an Extreme Engineering on a giant shopping mall in Dubai last night (nerd alert!). Apparently there is an indoor ski resort at the Mall of the Emirates, which is one of the largest malls in the world. Helloo retail therapy! :)

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Cars. I'm not super educated in the field of race cars, but I think this is the website: http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/

I have no advice but DH and I have a friend from Dubai and he says it's lovely. It's on my top places to visit.

I know his suggestion would be to visit the race track, because it's insanely famous (apparently, I don't watch racing! LOL).

@ms.janedoe: Cool, thanks! That's what I figured re. dressing in Dubai. Nothing above the knee and no cleavage. I wasn't sure about shoulders though, so- good to know! :)

Oh man, I lived in Dubai for about 6 months, but it was soooo long ago (and I was soooo young--8th grade!)...

My aunt and uncle lived there for 10+ years, and just moved last year. I think the general rule of thumb that WE followed (and trust me, not everyone followed it) were no bare shoulders/cleavage and no short-shorts (knee-length-capris were OK, but I think I mainly wore pants/long dresses/skirts). That being said, you would definitely see women wearing whatever the heck they wanted to!

Have a great time (and sorry I wasn't more help!)!!!

Give me some suggestions of things not to be missed!

DH and I booked our trip yesterday! We'll be headed to Korea to visit my friend from high school, but first we'll spend 3 days in Dubai.

In Dubai, I know there's shopping obviously, but not sure what else to do? I'm totally fine with just sitting by the pool or at the beach all day! But if there's anything we just "have" to do, let me know! We'll only be there for 3 days. Also, when not at the resort, how to dress? Is it a Muslim country? I want to be respectful.

Then in Korea: We'll go to Jeju Island for a few days. DH says we must go to a BBQ place, but since I'm a vegetarian, that doesn't excite me much! lol So...what to do? I'm sure my friend will have lots of ideas, but I just want to hear what you think? I think there is a Hello Kitty Cafe there?! I def. would wanna check that out :) lol

I'm so excited for this trip! After the disappointing year we've had TTC and recent MC, and with how busy I've been with my business, I think I really deserve it! :oD

So hit me with some fun suggestions, if you have 'em! :)
