I don't think it is a problem at all, especially if you're willing to consider a college student - they have weird hours too! Good luck :)

Thanks guys! I had initially ruled it out thinking no-one would be interested. I will see my new rotation soon and then once I know what I will need I will probably put out some feelers.

I think so! My guess is, if you post an ad on care.com, you'll get more responses than you ever want to read... even though the hours will be a little weird. The hard part is choosing the right person from all of the choices!

I think you'd be able to find someone willing to work with you regarding the schedule! Especially if you're willing to work with them, like if you found a mom that could bring her LO with her. Some might want you to have a garunteed minimum each week, but you definitely should be able to find someone. Good luck!

I definitely would!!

Actually, my sister just started nannying for a nurse and it's a crazy schedule but my sister doesn't mind. She has to get up at 4:45am (which kinda sucks lol), and then works a 8-10 hour day. She works 2x a week for 6 weeks, then has 6 weeks off... or something like that. idk, it's confusing and weird. But she doesn't mind it at all.

And I would be willing to do it :)

I am a nanny and I would absolutely consider that type of position. I have been in a place where I really only need part time work and am flexible on when, and right now one family I work with has a really flexible schedule so I would be able to make that work and put together full time. I also know a woman who is retired but likes the work and she would love a job like that.

I think if you are willing to consider someone who would bring their child along you might get a better pool of applicants too.

Good luck! I know it is a hard decision to make!

Yep. You can pretty much work out any schedule you want with a nanny. I was a nanny in college.

Nannies have a lot of advantages over daycare. One-on-one care, you can hand-pick who cares for your child, they care for them in your own home, etc... it goes on.

I am a nurse, and I work part time on a 12 week rotation, both days and nights. I would only need about 8 days of childcare a month, but it isn't a consistent, always the same days of the week kind of thing.

I know my schedule from here to eternity (LOL). Would you have considered nannying for someone where your days worked were kind of all over the place?

We are looking at child care options for my return to work in April, and I wonder if this is something that might be worth looking into, since many daycares have only full time spaces, doing a part-time nanny might be the same cost, and nicer for me.
