@Ash: After her feeding evaluation this morning (through our children's hospital) they decided she should see a speech therapist to help her with her "feeding" skills.

@Anagram: we're supposed to try a nutramigen trial at the end of the month. Maybe after that, the gi will have some milk suggestions.

@MrsH: C gags but never pukes. Let me know how it goes! Poor babies.

@Ash: I felt the same way (My LO is MSPI, too). But I was EPing, so I was in a hurry to finish that and get back to eating normally. I had some frozen, but not enough to last for long. I started the pump weaning process when LO was 13 months, and was totally weaned in 2 weeks.

I'd transferred her to Hemp milk at that point, (which was a long slow process) so then we just went to two bottles a day.

We still have our night time bottle.

@MrsH: we saw a speech pathologist (referred by his gi) and he said C knows how to eat so it will just take time. Isn't is so frustrating?

@Anagram: gah, not sure I can take bottles away without starving him. Hahaha! He's still on neocate formula...

We are in the same boat except for E will gag/ puke if we give her anything except for puffs. Even then if the puff is too big she pukes :( we are likely going to send her to a speech therapist for food school.

@Ash: I had a slow starter on solids, and she finally picked up her eating right around 13 months. After 1 year, I had to take a leap of faith and cut down her milk intake dramatically (We were still on bottles, and still on 4 full bottles a day because she really wasn't eating much). I cold-turkey cut out all daytime bottles. I did offer her a straw cup of milk at lunch, but even now she rarely drinks it.

Then she started getting more interested in food and became a little piggy, just like that.

Also, mushy foods (like mashed potatoes and oatmeal) were actually much harder for my LO to eat. Spears or bite size pieces of things like pasta were easier for her to eat.

Here's my question, if they aren't interested in food do you still offer bottles?

@cait: that's kind of what we do. It's just frustrating when he spits so much out and refuses to swallow.

DS took 10 months to accept any food. He finally started to take purees and then it was another few months before he would eat actual pieces of food.

We are still dealing with this at 15 mo! DD barely eats anything some days. Other days she will love one food but then spit it out the next. She consistently likes small amounts of grilled cheese, so I make it for her almost daily but also keep offering her other options. I figure she will come around eventually. I hope.

Around 15 months! She was just not interested, and now she's a great eater. We stopped trying so hard and would just eat our meals with her and offer small bites when she showed interest. Eventually our food seemed more appealing.

When did he/she come around? Ds is 13 months old and spits everything out (other than things like mashed potatoes, applesauce pouches, puffs that melt). Meal times are so frustrating. Any tips?
