They'll eventually get into the habit, and it's important for little kids to have barefoot time. When I was a kid, we would head out the door without shoes and play in the yard for much of the year. (It was good clean dirt, but that would probably explain why mom mopped the kitchen floor every Saturday!) A lot of Asian people purposefully buy shoes that are easy to put on and off... we got Charlie a pair of red shoes that are really easy to get on and off! How do you handle small kids? It seems like it would be a pain to remove their shoes and help put them on every time you come in and out of the house but their shoes get just as dirty as anyone else.
