my woven wrap stash is out of control... this, is missing a few!

my favorite wraps hands down are my Pavo Gothams and my Silver Lining Slings Ashtons <3 in the middle range. Those are on the bottom 2 shelves pictured here-- I have 3 Gothams and 2 Ashtons LOL

Artipoppe Barbie Dots is my favorite HE brand- it's not pictured here but google it... so fabulous

Favorite Front Carry is a basic Front Wrap Cross Carry
Favorite Back Carry is reinforced ruck with a knotless finish.

Situated? Depends on her mood. I can ruck in 3-5 minutes if that, FWCC is about the same!

@LovelyPlum: When you get to be an experienced wrapper, I recommend high back carries. Prior to that, hip carries like Robins hip carry, Poppins hip carry, or the Coolest Hip Carry are really good.

@ElbieKay: If you have back issues, you SHOULD try a woven wrap! :P I find a woven FAR more comfortable than our SSC with my 27 pounder. I like that it's so versatile and I can use carries that redistribute the weight however I want!

@Mae: He did when he was teeny tiny, but now that he's bigger if I'm going to wrap him at home I have to put him in a hip carry or a super high back carry so that he can see everything he wants to see.

@anandam: It depends on the carry. If I know she's tired or hungry I purposely put her in a carry that will allow me to nurse if she asks. But there are some carries that are very fast and easy to get baby in and out of, yes.

@anandam: Nope! You can just loosen it. I can send you a video tutorial. Front cross carry in particular is fantastic for Breastfeeding and then re-adjusting. You can also pre-tie it, so if you want to wear baby at the grocery store or something, you can tie it before you leave the house and just pop baby in when you arrive!

@Bubbles: ah I think if I walked about town I'd use a wrap all the time. Just the nature of suburbs, I might be going 3 places but have to drive to each so it's like 15 min car, 5 min worn, back to car seat for a 5 min trip, worn 20 min, etc. all the off on is annoying even with a rs! But just slightly less annoying than carrying a car seat and lo likes to ride high when running around :)

I never even tried a woven wrap. I have always had back issues, and I had a big baby. He was 8lbs 13oz when he was born, and now at seven months old he weighs more than 21lbs. So, I stick with my soft structured carrier that puts weight on my hips as much as possible, and I usually encourage my husband to use it so that I don't have to!

I used a stretchy wrap from birth, and started using a woven wrap around 3 months when DS started getting too heavy for the stretchy. He is like your LO and does not like to just hang out in it at home.

Back then he used to take all his naps in it, so I had it on for a huge portion of the day. Since 6mo he's napped in his cot, so I only use it like you do, for quick errands. Over the summer I have barely used it - it has been so hot that the pushchair has always felt like the better option as we both get SO hot when baby wearing and in 30C heat that's no fun.

Now the temperature is dropping I imagine I will use it more again, although if I need to carry a lot of stuff I end up using the pushchair as I don't have a car. It is invaluable for the Tube though, as I hate relying on strangers to help me up the stairs.

I loved the woven wrap as it has really grown with us - there are so many different carries you can do for different situations. Plus I am able to carry a 25+ pounder effortlessly!

The time it takes me depends on what carry I am doing, and how cooperative LO is being. Not as quick as a ring sling, but still under a minute for simple carries. Like someone else mentioned, the tails can be a bit tricky when you are outdoors as they drag on the floor while you're tying.

I don't know a lot about wraps but would suggest considering buying second hand so you don't have to break it in - I bought a brand new Storchenweige and it was SO tough, it took me weeks to break it in and once I did it was so much easier to tie.

@Boheme: @Arden: did your Los always like being worn around the house or did you have to work at that? My lo is very happy to be worn out and about with all the new stuff to look at, but she doesn't like being worn at home unless she isn't feeling good. I keep trying to cook with her and she just whines and squirms to get loose. But, she also is not a cuddle baby who wants to be held just 'cause. Usually if I have something to do that takes less than 20 min I just let her play on the floor or jumper and if it takes longer I wait for a nap!

The store accidentally ordered me a size seven instead of a six, would you have it cut down or just wait and decide in a few months?

I love hearing about what kinds of carries people use day to day!

@Boheme: @Arden: When baby gets restless in there or wants to nurse, or just wants to stretch out in some space for a while... are you able to get the wrap re-situated one-handed to put baby back in afterward? Or do you have unwrap the whole thing and put baby down to redo the wrap?

As for wrap brands... I have to be careful how I word this now that I represent Babywearing International as an educator, but I definitely have brands I like and don't like.

Loves:
Didymos. You really can't go wrong with a Didy. Classic, comfortable, durable, fantastic customer service from most vendors.
Pavo Textiles. If you follow me on IG, you already know this ;) Can be tricky to get your hands on, but well worth it. Cush for days.
Oscha. Solid, well made, reputable company, beautiful.

I am not pleased with quality control stuff with Kokadi, and I can't work with the thickness of Natibaby sometimes.

Is it your favorite carrier? Why? Gosh yes. I have several in different sizes, and they are so comfortable.

@HLK208: For affordable pretty ones, I love Girasol and Ellevil. There are so many good brands though - you really can't go wrong. I am dying for a Didymos Indio and a Natibaby Starry Night at the moment.
Boheme knows about a lot more of them than I do, so far I've only had couple wraps because I don't have a lending library or anything around here.

How often do you use your wrap? When do you use it?
Um, basically every day. I use it when cooking or doing laundry or anything around the house where I don't want LO getting into trouble. I wear her when she's sick or needs to take a nap when we're in public. I wear her in grocery stores and airports, etc.

Is it your favorite carrier? Why?
Yes. For sure. Because it's the most versatile and the most comfortable. I can carry her on my front, my back, my hip. I can nurse in it, she can nap in it, I can do through airport security with it since there are no metal pieces...

How long does it take you to get LO situated in the wrap in public?
Depends on the carry. I usually do a hip carry when I'm grocery shopping and I can do it while we're walking from the car to the store, under a minute. I still take a bit longer with more complicated carries but it's really not that long.

I love my wrap, but I still use my Mei tai or ring slings for errands, because it is so much quicker to get her up and I don't have to worry about my tails in a parking lot. That being said, my wrap is still my favorite carrier. I can distribute the weight much better and it is much more comfortable for walks and chores around the house.
