Thanks to everyone for your comments! I block fed over the weekend to decrease my supply. LO has always only fed from one breast....BUT I was pumping the other breast which led to an oversupply (and hence the imbalance). I'm still just offering one breast per feeding, but it seems like LO gets mad at the end because he is used to a super forceful flow (that he would choke on). I guess he will get used to the less forceful flow!

This happened to me and LO had green, foamy poop with black specks in it. What I did to combat it was to feed LO from one boob for 3-4 feedings in a row to make sure that she was getting the hindmilk and then pump the other boob. Within a day, LO's poops were back to normal.

Do you offer more than one breast per feeding? I used to offer both and LO had greenish frothy poop, and then I started only offering one boob per feeding and it helped

LO had some green poop in the early days when my supply was out of control. I block fed for about a week and it all calmed down. But like someone else said, dairy could be the cause of the green poop as well... especially if it's frothy.

can you pump a little bit before you feed him? that way you know he is getting more foremilk?

Is the poop just a little green and once in awhile or is it bright pea green all the time? My LO's poop would be greenish and mucousy on occasion and I was told that it was only an issue if it was very consisten and bright, bright green. I had an oversupply issue at this time too and LO was Mr. Fussypants.

Prior to this he ate off both breasts and I just put him on one breast per feeding for 2 weeks. Oncemy supply leveled out we went back to both breasts. If LO already just takes one, I would do block feeding like pp suggested.

The first month, my LO threw up a lot after feedings so I thought I had an issue with oversupply. I saw two different LCs who told me not to sweat it and just continue to feed the baby the same way. They both mentioned something on the lines of babies are still learning to eat properly the first 6 weeks and just wait it out. I didn't really believe them but about a week and a half later...the issues disappeared for us!

Good luck!

We had this issue. My LC told me about the greenish poop and I read about it on KellyMom. Normally what I do when I notice a greenish poop is to block feed, so I'll do 2 feedings on one side and see if that helps. I'll also encourage her to do longer feedings, if she takes herself off at her normal time we take a 5-minute break and then I put her back on. For us, it will usually be back to yellow poops within a couple of poops.

I have never heard that greenish poop was an indicator of too much foremilk...

I thought I had an oversupply issue as well. If you think you had it taken care of, have you removed dairy from your diet? Greenish poop is also a possible symptom of dairy intollerance. I go to this because it is what worked for us. But try absolutely no dairy, casein, whey (even hidden) for 2 weeks. If it works yay if not then you haven't lost anything and you have eliminated that issue.

So, about a week ago, I concluded after speaking with a lactation consultant that I had an oversupply/forceful let down. The oversupply (I think) is/was causing DS to get too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk leading to tummy troubles for him. I worked to tame the oversupply and thought I had done so, but he is still fussy and today had greenish poop (a sign of too much foremilk).

Has anyone battled this issue and how did you resolve it?

Thanks....
