In my state, daycare centers are legally not allowed to mix bottles. They even have to have separate fridge space and warmers for formula vs pumped breast milk! But I think you're thinking of how unrefrigerated bottles go bad after an hour or so. Mixed bottled stay good in the fridge for 24 hours.

We've done it both ways. Our first daycare we took the canister to them and left it there and then took clean bottles each day and they made bottles as needed.

Our daycare now requires them to be made and labeled. If you decide to make them yourself, get the Dr Browns mixing pitcher. It's the best money spent in our bottle feeding world.

My friend with a LO in daycare had to pre-make it. She made a pitcher full and then divided it into bottles.

We brought the formula pre-measured in one of those plastic travel containers for formula. I put the correct amount of water in the bottles as well so they just had to mix it. Bottles & formula were labeled with her name.

@BeachMama: Our daycare required them pre-mixed, but if yours gives you the option to send in the powder, I would totally just do that. So much easier than mixing bottles every morning!

I think they're good for 24 hours! You could potentially send a pitcher if you want? Otherwise I'd mix them in the bottles and cap them off for them. Our daycare made the bottles up for us, so we just sent the can, but i know that's not an option for you

Same as @ladybee: - we mix them at home, label and refrigerate at home then at daycare. I followed the 24 hour rule.

At our daycare we bring in the formula and the bottles separately and they mix it when they make a bottle.

We had to mix them. They are good for 24 hours if kept in the fridge. I would make them the night before, the next morning throw in a cooler bag, and then in the fridge at day care.

All daycares in our county need formula in premixed bottles labeled with the students name and date. We would mix them and take them in a cooler bag. Then we put them in a refrigerator at daycare in his room.

For those that use formula and send LO to daycare, how do you pack the bottles and formula? Do you mix them beforehand? or pack them separately?

One daycare I looked at said they will not mix formula so I'd have to send the bottles already mixed. But I thought they were only good for 2 hours after mixing?

We will be starting with a small home daycare next week and she's willing to do it however I want. I'm thinking about just leaving a canister of formula with her so she can mix the bottles herself.
