Similac organic for us! She didn't like enfamil, and those were the samples we had.

Another vote for Gerber Gentle - my daughter would tolerate others, but liked this one the best.

We've had good luck with Enfamil Gentlease. We tried the Target version once, but she got horrible constipation.

We also used Gerber Gentle to supplement with great success until he was over his reflux and then we did a gradual transition to increased lactose formulas (Similac sensitive or the Target equivalent and then Honest full dairy formula and then Enfamil Toddler transitions until he was ready for WCM at 13 months).

@ShootingStar: Yep. Our ped told us there is absolutely no difference between the "supplementation" similac and the regular similac - except the color of the container. :P

@maybebaby: My daughter did well on Similac Sensitive and the generic versions of it. We would use the brand name or generics from various stores interchangeably and never noticed a difference.

We used Nutramigen since it is gentle at the beginning. It was crazy expensive. Since I ended up supplementing my pumped BM permantly, we later switched to Similac, which was more affordable.

I used Gerber Gentle also. I would have gotten the more expensive similac non-GMO and what no, but our ped gave us Gerber samples and since DD did well on that, I didn't want to mess with it!

@ShootingStar: great questions! I'm not entirely sure but I have heard they are a bit more gentle to ease the transition to the digestive system of the breastfed baby.

I feel like the formulas for supplementing are just a marketing gimmick. I'd love to hear if there's actual evidence/reasoning behind using them though.

With both of my kids I used Gerber Good Start Gentle and they both tolerated it well. I know Gerber has a formula for supplementing and I know someone that used it with success.

There are so many brands out there, I am overwhelmed! When we supplemented DS I used whatever samples we had on hand - he wasn't fussy. DD seems to have a bit of a reaction to dairy (not a true intolerance) so not sure if I should do a soy formula or one of the sensitive ones. Any advice appreciated! She is almost 5 months and after back to work and the return of my period, the freezer stash is dwindling quickly!
